Fascinating and fun
This was a birthday present for an intelligent little boy. He was playing with out and finding out some scientific facts at the same time.

Good introduction to Physics for children

the lemon clock being the best and most astounding in the eyes of my kids ...
I think it is expensive for 6 simple experiments. I have only tried three of them so far - the lemon/potato clock, volcano and invincible ink. They all sort of work, the lemon clock being the best and most astounding in the eyes of my kids who are 3 and 5 years old, as they have already grasped the concept of having to either charge things or put in batteries or plug into sockets to get things working, so a lemon powering a clock was quite interesting to them. The volcano didn't really work very well I'm afraid...I mean it did bubble but it didn't gush or flow down lusciously....it was rather an anti climax. The invisible ink was a rather blurry affair - rather murky lines can be seen on the paper....not much different from simply brushing some words across a piece of paper with a wet brush, and you can kind of see the outline of the words...it's just not very dramatic. The experiments all come with some explanation and background to them, so would be suitable for kids older than my pair.Of course the box doesn't come with a lemon or a potato or washing up liquid (for the volcano) or blackcurrant juice (invisible ink). I found that I needed to buy a lemon (because I use jif lemon juice for my cooking and not real lemons, and we don't drink lemonade), red colouring (because i don't bake, and even if I do, I wouldn't use hideous red colour!), blackcurrant juice (ok, I could justify buying this as my kids will drink them up), and I guess some baking phobic parents would have to buy baking powder for the volcano - strangely I had some in my cupboard. So in addition to the cost of the box, I had to spend a little more to get the experiments working.Ok - not great.
