Fun snack maker
I started out nice. I poured little bit of waffle batter, added filling in the middle and then poured little more of batter to cover the filling. It was a total failure. Forgot to oil it. I soaked a paper towel with olive oil and brushed top and bottom. Now with oil, things got little better but not quite right. After few trials, I learned the big secret. Not too high heat--- low medium Heat was the key to the success together with oil. Of course, you need a patience. But it pays off nice with a sweet childhood snack (in Korea). My success rate now? 100%!!!! My family played with it for 2 hours and had so much fun. I may buy another one to speed up the process (everyone was on standby to get the next one). I found this is cheaper than other one that I considered purchasing. I do not regret for buying this one. This exceeded my expectation.

taiyaki a fun snack for all
It arived today and i orderd it 3 weeks ago it came 3 weeks ahead of the estimated arival window seeing is how this shiped from china to america that is some extremely impressive shiping speed so color me impressed. The taiyaki maker its self is realy well made for something of equal quality in a cooking store in america i feel i would have to pay close to 50 dallors or more so this was a hidden jem. The item makes two taiyaki and the griddle part of the maker is big enough to fit on a gas stove burner. Thats what this should be used on make shure to use cooking spray and cook on meduim to low heat you can make taiyaki with. (Sweet red bean paste / chocolate filling / cheese filling / sweet potato paste) these are the most commen fillings for taiyaki.

This works great, but it is very light weight
This works great, but it is very light weight , so next time I would pay much more and buy cast iron Taiyaki pan.Meanwhile. this works great for the price.I mixed Bisquick , eggs, milk and brown sugar for dough, and for filling I made variety of different ones: 1anko(azuki bean paste) ,2.Cheese, 3peanut butter.First, heat the pan well with medium heat , and turn the heat to mid-low, open and spray "spray oil" on both bottom/top pans.Fill the 1/2 of bottom pan and put the filling. Then add more dough over the filling, close pans quickly, and turn to cook the other side. And done!!My child loves Taiyaki so much and very handy for snack and school lunch!

Amazing!!
So I was a little taken aback that this didnt plug into anything but it worked out perfectly fine. I used it on an electric stove. I would start with medium heat and then lower it to about 3.5/4 to keep a steady heat. I love this thing so much. No complaints whatsoever.EDIT:So I used it first at my boyfriend's house. He has a nice electronic stove. But I used it on my lil double burner. It has heat settings but I feel like that's bull because it burned them half the time. So be careful.

NOT made from ceramic
the description says “material: ceramic” this item is 100% not ceramic. in Japanese on the package it clearly states that it is made of aluminum with a teflon coating.

I'll upgrade to a better one later...
This item looked used since there were a few places that didn't have the coating on it and were dirty at some parts. It's hard to flip this maker to get the other side of the fish done since it tends to leak on the sides. For the price, it was okay. I'm not sure if I would recommend buying this one.

Great quality
I have a Japanese friend in college, and he had me try some taiyaki (bought at a convenience store frozen) and it was so good! I love sweet red bean and craved more taiyaki, but was sad to see the store had closed. So I bought this in order to make some homemade taiyaki.Making the bean paste took hours but it was delicious. Then I made the batter. In order to cook the taiyaki, I just put the griddle on top of the stove burner. Pour the batter until about halfway from the top, put in a little filling, and cover that with batter. Then close the pan and wait a few minutes for that side to brown and flip.I'm so happy I got this. It was worth having taiyaki again.

Easy to clean, great on glass top stoves
It's lighter weight than I expected. I was on the fence between this pan or the electric taiyaki cooker, and I'm glad I went with this one. I cooked these on a glass top electric stove, and they came out perfect. 3tbsp of batter with 1 tbsp of filling made perfect taiyakis with no batter blowouts on the sides of the pan.
