China has been shown to have more toxicity in the leaves so I will not purchase a Chinese based green tea. My Dad has cancer so I wanted a pure, delicious, wonderful tasting tea for him to enjoy. My entire family enjoyed this tea and their comments are that it is smooth, meaning it is not bitter, aromatic, buttery and nutty tasting. If you follow the brewing instructions, you will NOT be disappointed. There is an entire art to brewing and enjoying tea and this Sencha tea will NOT disappoint you!! After we brew the tea, I use the tea leaves in preparing a smoothie for my Dad; this is the other reason I was searching for an organic tea. After drinking lots of green smoothies, I find that the green tea leaves adds another dimension to the drink. Where green smoothies can be bitter, the tea leaves change the flavor and the bitter is not so harsh. It is very tasty and the bitter makes you want more! :) We are very happy that we purchased this tea from Mr. Suzuki. We will be purchasing more! Review: Amazing Smell and Taste in a mild tea - This is my first time trying loose sencha tea which didn't come in a teabag. It has a wonderful subtle, buttery, almost nutty fresh flavor. Brewed according to the directions on the package it makes the perfect cup of tea. I found it to be very energizing and relaxing. The leaves are dark green and the brewed tea is medium to light green. Will definitely recommend to all friends and buy it again. It took about a week for shipping, but give them time - it comes all the way from Japan and is definitely worth it!

Terrific daily tea
We weren't expecting much from this loose leaf tea. But it's much better than the organic green tea we normally get at our food coop--deeper green and fresh-tasting. And thanks to its reasonable cost, you can make a pot every day for throughout the day drinking. We have no complaints. It's hard to find an organic green tea from relatively safe leaves (soil, manufacturing practices...). We've added this to our household staples.

A Green Tea for Green Tea Lovers
This may be the best green tea I've bought. It has wonderful yet subtle flavor. And the value? If you divide the price of this tea by the number of cups of tea you get from this package, it works out to just pennies per cup

Just ok sencha
Ordered this for the first time, it has a weak smell and flavor which is opposite of what Im used to with authentic Sencha from Japan. I like flavorful tea. Also the tea turned brown in my cups, and not green. Tasted ok, but too bland for me

very delicious!
konichiwa! I got a sweet message from the seller asking for a review, so here it is. I am not super well versed in Japanese teas but I like sencha a lot and have been struggling through some not so great teas so I felt willing to pay a little more for an organic sencha from Japan. I've heard here and there that there can be toxicity issues with tea from China so I am trying to avoid that. When brewed as per the instructions on the container, the tea has a beautiful, complex flavor, with some sweetness and a lovely aroma. They are instructing to brew at 140* f so the tea is at a temperature to drink right away. When brewing at 140* water will take around 10 minutes to cool to that temperature from boiling. When brewed with my quick american method (boil water, pour out into another container to cool slightly, then into teapot right away- thus, water is hotter) The tea is stronger, a bit more bitter and probably less subtle. (Which I like). This is to say, that your brewing method will make a difference in the flavor of tea, try the method on the container first so you can taste the flavor of the tea as intended. a teaspoon makes about 2 cups of strong tea, and the same tea can be used to make a second cup. thanks for the lovely tea!

bad old dull tea
First time buyer for Japanese Sencha on Amazon. What a disappointment. This is an old, dull green tea. Its color, taste, aroma are all pretty bad. Not sure how authentic it is (organic?, fresh? Japanese Sencha?...etc etc, all questionable). I am a green tea drinker for decades, I kind of know my green tea (sorry to sound like a tea snob). This Zen no Ocha Sencha tea is undrinkable... I went to try another Japanese organic Sencha from Amazon (called First Flush from Kagoshima). It arrived in the evening and once I opened it, the aroma woke me up...it is sooooo delicious, way way way better. I am in no way affiliated with any tea makers. I just want the buyers to avoid wasting $ by experimenting teas and be able to buy a good tea at first try.

Delicious, Soft and Full
I drink a lot of tea and have rarely been as pleased with a new purchase as with this one. The flavor is full, soft and delicious—a wonderfully balanced tea. Be sure to follow the brewing instructions. I left my first steeping too long in the pot (about 3 minutes) and came back to bitter tea. My second time through I steeped the water at 140 and for only a minute. The tea was perfect. I steeped the same leaves twice more and the tea was delicious each time. GIVE THIS TEA A TRY, if you like green tea.
