First I think I should clarify what it is that is being sold here. This is a wooden art panel with an acrylic gesso that mimics canvas material. I read other reviews and see how they would be confused by the description but that is what it is. And yes, you only get one instead of three as the stock image shows, they should just show the one board. These are my preferred boards to paint on. I used canvas before and never liked painting lines and fine detail with them and found these boards to be amazing! I've been using these boards for years. The sides are stainable and you do not have to worry about framing your painting when you are done. Tip: Use painter's tape on the sides so you can keep them clean while doing your painting. If you haven't painted on wood you should certainly give it a try. I always felt that I had better control with a solid backing as opposed to stretched canvas giving a little. They are well constructed and worth the low cost you pay for them. I used to make my own panels but for the price versus the time to make them this is so much worth it. I highly recommend these panels.

These panels are fantastic to paint on. These have just a bit more tooth than gessobord (which I also love). My only complaint is they dent easily and I wish amazon would stop trying to ship in bubble mailers.

Damaged corners made it unusable.

Apparently, based on my recent experience, the size of these is inconsistent. I had one 18x18in panel and ordered a second, planning to create a diptych, but found - to late? - that they didn't align and edges are not the same lengths (off by 3/8" or so). This is crucially important for an unframed diptych, but also an important consideration for individual panel framing, especially in a floater frame. Otherwise, they're quite nice. Today, I ordered two panels of the same size that I hope will actually be the same size. :fingers crossed
