Seeing two beautiful,mature women who obviously love each other but are going through a tough time was a pleasant change. I was not familiar with these two Italian actresses, so it was a real treat to see truly believable acting. It was also nice that the director didn't feel the need to put in an obligatory love scene. It wasn't really necessary to this story line. SPOILER : Marina ( Ferilli)- the brunette) is a retired successful actress who owns a restaurant. She is self assured, confident and happy with her sexuality. Her partner of 5 tears Federica ( Buy- the blonde) is an architect with an ex husband and a college age son. She is very confident in her work life but having difficulty in her home life. Despite living with Marina for 5 years she states that she is not a lesbian.( perhaps she thinks she's a giraffe :) ) Her problem is not with her sexuality, it's with belonging to a minority that is maligned.and despised by many. (It is Catholic Italy after all.) If being a lesbian were a highly sought out attribute, Federica would not have a problem with loving Marina. Federica is TOO concerned with what " other people " think. So, when she meets a guy who she once had a mild attraction to, she sees her chance to once again belonging to the acceptable straight world. She eventually moves in with the guy and realizes she has nothing in common with him. She also realizes that she's been there ,done that before. She repeatedly tries to contact Marina, but Marina who is heartbroken, is having none of that ! In a final last ditch attempt to contact Marina she shows up at the apartment she and Marina shared to beg forgiveness and wants to be taken back. At first Marina sets a 6 month trial period to test Federica's claim of undying love. BUT, at the last minute she relents and takes Federica back into her loving arms. Is this a storyline that lesbians have seen over and over again in movies ? Yes it is. Some say it's an old rehashed storyline so why bother making another movie about it. To me that is like saying I have seen Romeo and Juliet so why see it again ? If you can't figure that out ,then don't watch this movie. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not Explicit *by C***N on Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2018* First, this film could have been rated PG-13. There is no nudity, nor anything explicit. It's a film about two women living together for 5 years, very happily, sharing the same interests in just about everything. They sleep in the same bed, of course, but there is no naughty stuff. Federica was married, and had a son. She is impressed by a handsome man, and decides to sleep with him. For lesbians, sleeping with a man is the kiss of death. But Federica has said she doesn't consider herself a lesbian. The women split up for a while. When she spends time with her male lover, Federica is forced to watch a soccer game, and she is bored. Who can blame her? (At least he didn't ask her to get him a beer.) She realizes life with a man will suck (no pun intended) so she goes back to her girl friend. A wise decision. The ending is very nice, as they kiss and make up. The direction by Maria Sole Tognazzi is wonderful, even the Italian family meals where men yell at each other. The point of the film is this: a woman has to give up a lot to live with a man, her individuality and her sexual freedom. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great movie! It is a very real and accurate portrayal about the struggles couples (straight or gay) can go through after being together for several years. One of the main characters struggles with inner conflict between being in a relationship with a woman in the public eye, and her love that she has for her partner. I wasn't sure what to expect with this movie since there were no reviews, but I am SO happy that I took a chance and watched it.
