It's pretty big, so be sure that you have the space to store it, especially if you have a fairly small kitchen like we do!The best thing about this colander is the handles on the side. They are soft grip which allows you to easily handle hot food and quickly remove all of the liquid. The colander then fits over the top of a medium or large size saucepan to drain any further water with the four plastic parts on the bottom. These also of course allow it to stand on a counter top.Overall I would highly recommend this colander as it's easy to use and easy to clean. It is far sturdier and slightly heavier than a stainless steel version I had previously ordered and returned as being of too poor quality for its price.Most of its surface is covered with narrow elongated drainage slots which will not allow a rice grain to pass through although anything smaller, cous cous for example, might escape to a degree if sufficiently moist. The handles are rubberised but small and also slotted but not large enough even for a slim female finger to pass through.Its four-point stand will allow it to be placed in a sink to drain water from vegetables, pasta etc and high enough off to allow good drainage.
