Essential wood burner accessory.
A great piece of kit hat makes prepare kindling extremely easy and much safer that using an axe.

No nonsense decent bit of kit
You've only got to catch yourself with a hatchet once to start to think about safer ways to split kindling. This does the job admirably: Mount it on a log, pair it up with a rubber mallet and you're good to go. I haven't had to sharpen mine yet but it looks easy enough to do. Only criticism is that you simply can't split logs as big as you can with a hatchet / axe and it's much better with soft and green wood than it is with seasoned hardwood. As long as you understand that and use it accordingly you'll be fine.

Great tool..
Bought this to replace a large axe to chop firewood. I have to say it’s brilliant. Once you’re used to it,it works a treat. So much easier and safer than an axe. Makes chopping fire wood effortless. If you’re thinking of buying one and you’re not sure because of a negative review on this product ignore it… if used properly this is a great tool and will save you loads of time and effort.. Five stars from me⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

Good bit of kit, worth every penny.
This splitter is well built and sturdy when screwed down. Handles the larger bits of wood just as well as the smaller logs. Cut my time chopping wood in half. Comes nice and sharp and has stayed sharp after use too. I was dubious but glad I brought it.

Kindling means kindling
It's a good piece of kit, but when they say it is for kindling it really does mean that. I tried it first on a 6 inch diameter log, using a heavy club hammer to bang down on the log, and the club hammer made more of an impression on the log than the blade did. On the other hand it works fine for splitting short sections of pallet wood into thin kindling strips. (I have since learned that Eucalyptus wood is notoriously difficult to split, especially if it has been left for any length of time since being felled, so perhaps I inadvertently picked the worst case scenario to test this splitter.)

Not safe to use
Watch the demonstration video a few times and you will notice the length of wood the demonstrator is cutting and how he pulls his hand away and he chops the wood in to kindling. The wood he is chopping is clearly dry and not still green. Well, the wood I had had been freshly cut down and I couldn't even get it to split when I hammered it. Also It felt very unsafe to use with shorter lengths as I felt it was very close for my hand and it felt like an accident waiting to happen (chopping my fingers or hand on the splitter). I will stick with my tried and tested axe and tomahawk.

Great for splitting logs
I mounted this to a tree trunk section to provide a sturdy base. I put 4 screws through the holes provided in the base. These holes are a little difficult to access as you have to angle your screwdriver to fully screw them home. In use it is good and splits the logs easily

Meilleur fendeur "lowtech" musculaire

Bisher absolut zufrieden damit. Also genau das, was ich erwartet habe.
