Good add on kit
Those drip irrigation kits are deceptive. They come with just enough supply for a small patio. This is a great additional kit to extend the system. Drip systems are super easy if you add a digital timer to your faucet ( about $25)

Definitely need to use clamps
Per another reviewer, the barbed diameter is too small and requires the use of a clamp. However, it is still the best value elbow connector for outdoor irrigation systems. Yes, you need to use a clamp, either a hose clamp, or a 1/2" PEX pinch-type clamp works fine. The photos in my review show a 1/2" PEX clamp before pinching, and after pinching. These stainless-steel clamps cost me roughly 20 cents apiece in bulk here on Amazon. With the cost of the elbow and two clamps, the total cost is about 60 cents per connection. Compare that to the price of a Mister Landscaper locking elbow priced at $2.98 each.

Absolutely does not fit 1/2” irrigation tubing.
The diameter is not sufficient to be a water tight fit in 1/2” irrigation tubing.
