Seemed nice but had to return
Felt like good material outside and inside. Bought as a gift but unfortunately was to small in the end so had to return for a bigger lunch bag. Design was very clear and looked nice.

Atmospheric
I have enjoyed reading this book. Got interested in it because it is connected with the Navajo nation. I didn't know anything about the culture of the Navajos, and it was interesting to learn something. This is a story set in modern times and talks about the people living in the reservation but also refers to the folklore and tradition. Good story, evocative descriptions of the land, looking forward to reading more in the series.

Enjoyable
I stumbled across Tony Hillerman's books by accident in 2002 (they aren't widely available in the UK) and have read (and re-read) them all with great enjoyment. I was greatly saddened to hear of his death and also realised there would be no more Chee and Leaphorn books.I saw that other authors had written books with the same 'flavour' but chose to steer clear, just in case I was disappointed. But then I saw this book and decided to buy it on the off-chance it would be just about as good as Tony Hillerman's work....and I have greatly enjoyed reading the story!I've just bought the second in this series hoping it will be as good....

Highly readable
This was an interesting detective story set in the world of the native American reservation. The characters and setting carried the slower paced narrative along . This is not a novel for thrill seekers but if you prefer something more believable and characters you might actually meet, this could be for you. It's a quick read and contains nothing graphic that could offend. I liked it and will read more.

boring
poor imitation of Hillerman

Clunky prose let down a potentially interesting story.
I liked the idea of this but found the prose clunky, which made the book a bit of a trial.
