Funforge Tokaido Board Game

When the board game arrived, it was in a pretty nasty condition. The box was bent in and dented, as well as the components being bent and folded. After contacting the seller about the problem they issued me a full refund and let me keep the game as it wasn't worth returning.The game is most definitely still worth it though, the art style is unique as well as being relatively straightforward and it can be played quite fast.

Very fun game which is easy to teach, and quick to pick up.After seeing this game played on Tabletop (Wil Wheaton) I have wanted to try this out for myself. After playing about 10 games I can say it is still super fun every time, and even only playing it with 2 players it is still challenging and exciting. It is much better with 4 players (3 makes it a little easier, 5 a little harder) where there is more thought in where to go and the game plays for about 30-40 minutes rather than about 20-30 minutes.For anyone unsure about the language of this game, the board and cards are all in Japanese and a westernised translation of them (東海道/Tōkaidō) and many rules are explained through symbols on the cards and the board meaning the game will always be playable and understandable by all. However the rulebook may be in other languages. I recommend contacting several sellers on Amazon to find out if they are selling the UK version of the game just to make sure. I bought from CJ-Max who sold the English language version of Tokaido, so I can recommend them! =]I have never had a game where one person was a clear winner, there is continuous scoring throughout the game, however at the end there are extra points for people who did the most of certain activities, meaning someone coming last might actually get 20 points at the end of the game. Usually everyone are within a few points of each other at the end. It is very well balanced, and no matter what strategy, you will always be struggling to win this game.Highly recommended for all looking into fairly simple board games which are a bit out of the ordinary! However maybe not so good for people looking at very heavy strategy based board games.

Very good game though not recommended for two players (it claims it's possible but if you're a couple it is an argument brewing if you play it at all seriously!) The game with more players, however, is rather good and with more tactics and strategy than most due to the lack of die and few random factors. The variety of player characters and their skills also keeps the game fresh even if you've played it a few times! :)

The wife wanted us to get into playing games like Monopoly, but I knew I could find a much more interesting game out there which would rely on mostly skill and tactics rather than the luck of a die.And so after endless browsing and online video reviews/tutorials, Tokaido became our first choice of purchase.This is a fun, light and colourful game that we were able to jump into straight away.It took all but one game to get into the flow of all the rules and abilities it has to offer, and we were pleasantly surprised with the innovative gameplay and overall quality.This will surely become a family favourite.

This is a beautiful looking game, with a simple game play mechanism, but with lots of variety of choices to be made so it shouldn’t feel repetitive. Enjoyed by all the family, from age 8 to 60! Also love that it is a game designed for 5 people, as we are a family of 5 we usually have to buy expansions to all play together. If you like games like Settlers of Catan this will probably appeal to you.

I love this game! It's short enough (max will last 60 mins) but it really is about the "journey" in every game. Lots of characters with their own pros and cons, so quite a bit of replayability. With experienced players, it can get a bit strategic and tactical, though the depth is limited in those aspects so don't expect grand planning

I bought this as a birthday present for my friend. This game is so beautiful and interesting, very strategic but peaceful at the same time. The art is incredible. I think I'll buy one for myself as well :DI paid extra for faster shipping, and the package got here sooner than expected, which was a nice suprise. And it was in perfect condition as well, thanks to Amazon shipping.Overall I'm very pleased.

A good, fun and easy to pick up game. We played it in two player mode, took a few minutes to get into the swing of things, and it was great.Imagine it would be even better with more players.
