A quality machine with some market flaws
Prior to purchasing the Fugi Sprayer Semi-Pro, I read every review and watch a lot of YouTube presentations on it. For the money, I felt this would be the best choice. I've used this sprayer on a couple of projects now and have come to appretiate some things about it and question a few things. Pros: 1. Surprisingly quiet considering it's a small turbine. 2. The hose is very manageable without having to buy the small pigtail that some have. 3. Its fairly simple to clean, though I use water based prodocts 4. The instruction manual is good and to the point. 5. Fairly light weight compared to the old sprayer I had. 6. The quality is unmistakably great. Everything about it is top notch. 7. It performed flawlessly and both my customer and I loved the finish it gave. Cons: (These go to marketing not the ability of the machine) 1. Parts are not available near me, order on line is about the only option. 2. A 1.3 mm spray tip came with the gun. That's great for spraying thin material but normal stuff like polyurathane, lacquer and such you need at least a 1.5 mm tip. They should include this. At about $45 dollars a pop that would have been nice. If I ever wanna spray water though I have the tip for it. 3. The filter at the bottom of the pickup tube broke after 2 uses. I order a new one (5 in a package $10) but had to wait to finish a project due to it. They include a package of "wearable parts" why the don't include the filter beats me. Overall I'd buy it again just because of the quality. Quality in the way it's built, quality in the parts ( when I bought the new tip the parts came with not only the tip but all new nozzle, needle, air caps and collar) and Quality in the end result, an absolutely stunning finish. I'll be spraying some paint soon and when I do I'll update the review on that. Mike Update 6/4/2020 Well I promised an update on paint spraying and I have done a few pieces now and I can say I'm very pleased with the results. Getting the paint to a point where you don't have the "Orange Peel" effect takes some trial and error but once you understand it your going to get better at it. My recommendation is to read Arni's review. He is spot on and much more articulate with what he says about this sprayer.

What overspray?!? WORTH EVERY PENNY!
Impressive and robustly built machine! Ive never sprayed before. After some research, I ended up choosing this semi pro 2 bottom feed HVLP. Then, did more research on needle tips, paints, primers, videos, etc. My first spray project EVER, complete noob! Using a 2mm tip, I painted a big sliding closet door (7 ft height x 4 ft width) To get a feel for the system I used Kilz 2 primer (thinned to 70 sec on Ford cup) and Behr latex paint (also 2mm tip thinend to 70 sec) (Research beforehand states that Behr paint is the absolute worst for spraying and Kilz 2 is like molasses, but did it anyway). I removed the air control valve for max air pressure, also removed the filter from the intake tube and it coated primer and paint nicely! 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of latex. Apart from a bit of mist, Very little overspray! Armi's review helped A LOT with narrowing down the setting and saving time with trial/error. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PROS: *User-friendly and VERY forgiving for beginners, with minimal learning curve. *Clean up time 10 min with 3M system and approx 20 min with vanilla cup. A bit longer when spraying shellac. *Ability to spray unthinned material coupled with the 3M 2.0 system and 1.8mm/2.0mm tip *Durable, reliable, versatile, excellent build quality and fantastic customer support *Quick swap with 3M disposable cups for longer spraying sessions (Prefill additional cups, seal with plug, then invert the cup to keep filter wet.) Very convenient feature! *Material use efficiency (Uses less material vs airless systems. Approx 1.25 gallons of SWUETE for 2 coats on 18 cabinet doors. *Included hose is more than adequate, as opposed to some testimonials recommending "whip hose" CONS: *1.3mm needle included is not practical for most users (In hindsight, I should've bought the Hobby Pro 2 which includes a 1.8mm tip) *MUST puchase additional accessories to increase versatility and function - 1.5mm tip/1.8mm tip/2.0mm tip ($58.95 each) - 3M PPS 2.0 pressure cup 13.5oz ($45.99) - 3M PPS 2.0 adapter ($35.16) - 3M PPS refill kit disposable cups ($33.74) TOTAL COST: $864.38 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *UPDATE 4/14/25: : Sliding closet doors - Used included bottom feed cup - Impressive result with 2.0 mm tip, with super thick cheap Kilz 2 primer and cheap Behr latex paint (60-70 sec equates to very little to no thinning) *UPDATE 10/22/25: New primed MDF cabinet doors. Sanded primer with 400 grit prior to painting with SW Urethane Trim Enamel (Semi Gloss Rosemary) Excellent self levelling. - 3M PPS Series 2.0 Pressure cup - 1.5mm tip @ 28 sec on Ford cup. 4 inch fan and 4 inch stand off. 1st coat: Amazing finish, but time consuming, as this setting only covers 2 inches for each pass at 50% overlap. - 1.8mm tip @ 32 sec on Ford cup (very little thinning) 8 inch fan and 6-7 inch stand off.: 2nd coat (Final coat and NO SANDING BETWEEN COATS): WOW! Very Impressed with its performance! I would rate it at 90% from Pro Grade finish. Total time spent: approx 1 hour for 18 doors for 1 coat each! Im confident this system coupled with the 3M 2.0 pressure cup can spray SWEUTE with NO thinning. Planning on spraying SWEUTE on interior doors without thinning using 1.8mm tip (Will update after) *UPDATE 11/25/25: - 2.0mm tip Stix Primer UN-thinned. No problem at all! Coated nicely! (See pics) *UPDATE 3/31/26 I’m continually amazed by this machine. It’s a true workhorse and produces a beautiful finish with each use. It’s easily one of the best purchases I’ve made for my solo whole-house remodel, and it has more than paid for itself. The minimal overspray is a huge bonus for me. Primed and painted 2 metal doors (Front door and door to garage) ,6 more cabinet doors, 1 bathroom shelf and 2 mirror frames. - I no longer use the Ford cup. I now only dilute SWUETE with 5% water with the 1.5mm needle. 4 in fan & 4 inch stand off. I use the 1.8mm needle & 5% water for the larger surface area Front door/Kitchen->Garage door. - I still dont sand between coats of SWEUTE and Stix. If I took the time to sand, the finish would definitely go from 90% to 100% pro-grade. - Metal doors: Stix primer and SWUETE High Hide White Semi Gloss and Iron Ore Semi Gloss - Cabinet doors: Stix primer and SWUETE Iron Ore Semi Gloss

Great Sprayer for the Money!!
I purchased this sprayer to spray kitchen cabinets I made for my step-daughter and her husband. Prior to making my purchase I did a lot of research and the Fuji Semi-pro kept coming up as one of the top contenders and finally the winner for me based on price and performance. I had no problems spraying both thick cabinet paint and waterborne oil modified poly with this sprayer. If you follow the directions and thin according to what the ford cup reading tells you it will spray perfectly. I was very pleased with the results. You do have to remember that this is only a 2 stage so don't expect to spray thick finishes right out of the can. There is a slight learning curve to get to know how it will perform but the manual is very straight forward and the Fuji Spray web site has a lot of good information to assist you. I did have one issue where the check valve plugged up with finish due to a lot of overhead spraying (some of the finish found its way into the lower tube and check valve) but once I replaced the check valve it did not miss a beat and sprayed great. The gun itself is easy to clean and I have it down to about 15 minutes to deep clean it and get it back to new like condition. Some extra accessories to consider if you are doing furniture and cabinet work are the 6 ft whip (the hose is pretty stiff when trying to maneuver around inside of a cabinet), better cleaning kit (the cleaning items supplied work but if you really want to keep the gun clean invest in a good kit) and extra gun parts (check values, gaskets and tubes). In addition, if you intend to spay thicker material invest in one of the larger tip sets as well, Overall this sprayer gives a lot of bang for the buck and I am very impressed with the quality and fit and finish of the product. If I ever upgrade to a larger sprayer it will be a Fuji as well.

Great sprayer for furniture and cabinets
I bought this mainly for spraying furniture and cabinets and it has worked really well. The finish comes out smooth and even every time, no brush marks or streaks. The spray gun is easy to use. You can adjust the fan pattern to wide or narrow depending on what you're working on, which is super handy. The 25-foot hose gives you plenty of room to move around without dragging the machine with you. The turbine is powerful and the metal case feels sturdy. It's not the cheapest option out there, but you can tell it's built to last. One tip: take a little time upfront to get the paint thickness and air pressure right for whatever coating you're using. Once that's dialed in, the results look really professional. Overall I'm really happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone doing furniture or cabinet work.

Easy to set up and break dwn , easy to clean. Very portable!
I recently purchased the Fuji spray semi pro spray system. I had read a few reviews and watched a few video reviews online. Im a house painter for past 30 years and have a lot of experience with exterior and interior painting and prep work. Im just getting into painting cabinets thought this would be a great starting spot fir me and it turned out to be a great spray system. It worked like a charm. I Highly recommend Fuji spray 2202 semi pro. Its really built well and is high quality materials.

Great results, easy to use (even for a beginner)
This is a great sprayer, even for an amateur like me. It is easy to set up, relatively easy to clean up, and controlling the spray pattern was easy as well. The build quality is really solid which also translates to a bit of weight - but the hose is plenty long so you don't need to move the base around while spraying. It took a little bit of trial and error to get the paint to the right consistency (adding water to latex paint), but I was able to get there - just remember to not start with too much additional water - you can always add more. Definitely recommend wearing ear plugs or some other form of protection because the fan does get loud but that is to be expected. Also would wear protection for your breathing because the paint is truly a fine mist. I got the bottom feed but I will likely also get the gravity feed mechanism in the future as I think it might be a little more comfortable to hold / manipulate the gun for some spraying positions. I also recommend getting the whip hose as it makes it easier (and feels lighter) than pull the heavier hose as you spray.

Shopped before I bought. Glad I did
I watched youtube videos, read reviews and forums on painting and woodworking before I bought this unit. They all said it was noisy but I haven't seen a paint sprayer or compressor that isn't. And you can hear how solid it is and the quality when you turn it on. I needed a portable hvlp unit because my wife is into furniture repurposing and we're replacing kitchen cabinets, so ease of use and mobility was a priority. We also have limited space to work in. The spray gun is well balanced and fits in your hand comfortably. The hose fittings are threaded from the unit and quick release on the gun. The hose is solid but flexible enough to work in small or large spaces. I used a test piece to play with the settings by holding down the trigger while I went thru the gears, so to speak. I adjusted the amount of flow in different fan orientations, switching from horizontal to vertical to the round pattern and back. It works smoothly and efficiently if you simply adjust the viscosity of your paint for the project and conditions you have. I'd buy it again. UPDATE: It's been a couple of weeks and the Fuji hasn't disappointed. I'm going to use a tinted catalyzed lacquer to finish the kitchen cabinets but I needed to learn how to use it so I built an out feed table for my table saw out of a sanded Pine plywood from Lowes to practice on.For that I bought a clear catalyzed lacquer and what I found is that the HVLP is a whole new ball game from brushes and rollers for glossy, flawless finishes. With a few tries (3 coats, 320 sanding between coats) it was clear, deep, and while somewhat challenging, the gun felt second nature, easily adjusted for correcting my errors and gave a highly satisfying mirror smooth finish without filling my workshop with clouds of product like compressor or airless sprayers.I used a simple 1/2 face mask from 3M for the lacquer. It's important to have: The right viscosity, well lit and adequate workspace, adequate ventilation and willingness to learn some basic painting skill. The lacquer goes a long way due to no massive over spraying. After each use I followed instructions on cleaning and it works like new every time. This was a good buy and is going to update our home without spending $Tens of thousands on manufactured cabinets.

Perfect DIY’er HPLV
After trying my first hand at spray finishing cabinet doors with a Wagner Flexio 3000 that I bought just a week before and not being completely satisfied with the results, I searched and researched what seemed to be everything out there within my budget and justification. An airless was not best for my shop or outside southern humidity and temperatures and HPLV three stage or better systems was just not an option. I read many great reviews of the Fugi Semi-Pro 2 that was designed for the diy’er like myself so I ordered it along with a #5 1.8mm and #6 2.0 air caps for heavier(latex) finishes. I’ve only used it on some bathroom doors I made and I couldn’t be more happy with the use of, cleaning, and results. It’s very quality made, cleans easy, and with the right thinning(latex) and air cap it atomized well and gave me a nice even wet coat each time. I don’t get the noise complaints that some have because it’s not any louder than my shop vacs or saws. The only thing that was trying to me was getting the cup’s plastic diaphragm off the siphon tube to clean it well. The tab given to pull it off is only about 1/4” without texture to get a grip to pull on. I kept my scratch awl handy to give a little pry up when it was time to clean. Cleaning became faster each time and I was done cleaning and it all put away in 10 minutes after the third time. It helps to have all your cleaning items together, handy and ready to go. To me, this is perfect for small to medium jobs. As the manual and website suggest, if you have large walls or a lot of exterior painting then an airless would serve you better. Doors, trim, and furniture is what HPLV’s are recommended for but not limited to. The overspray is minimal and it allows you to build thin durable coats that can be smooth as glass with the right settings, technique, and experience. Here are some suggestions if you’re just getting started. Prep- Sand down to 220. Make sure to fill any voids or flaws now that you don’t want magnified 100x. Vacuum, blow, or use tack cloth to remove any dust. Be sure to sand down to 320-400 grit in the final coats and clean after every coat except the final. I recommend oil base primers.. I use Zinsers and always have a solid smooth undercoat. Use quality paint designed for hard durable finishes. Everyone seems to have there go to and I’ve have great results with the SW Emerald Urethane. It’s pricey but it levels out nicely and slow to sag. I used the #6 2.0mm air cap with the air valve removed for maximum air flow and adjusted the fluid knob until I got good atomization on the edges of a 4”-6” pattern. I had to thin down about 30% and add floetrol due to upper 90’s degrees and mid 60’s humidity but the three coats of finish has dried to a nice hard, smooth, and durable finish. Final words.. You get what you pay for and and take the time to do right. I highly recommend the Semi-Pro 2 to anyone who is thinking an HPLV is right for them but can’t justify or afford a 3 stage or higher. This little thing will get the job done and done right.

Excellent results. Expensive parts.
Sprays very nicely—factory finish level. easy to clean and maintain. A bit noisy, mostly limited to stain and lacquers and other thin finishes (despite them selling larger caps you'd need much more power for). Very spendy (and especially the parts) for something such as this, unless you were using it daily/several times per week to earn money with it. Hose is cumbersome, and other reviews state that the lightweight "whip" offering (also expensive for a plastic hose) doesn't last. I used a lightweight garden hose instead and that worked nicely.

Supposed to be excellent but stopped working after 30 mins of spraying.
All other reviews have been very positive about this product so I’m asking for a replacement and willing to give it another go as the reviews and videos I’ve watched are so good

Did a great job!
I ordered this FugiSpray Semi-Pro2 with Suction Feed for my for my brother in law Scott King. This is his review: “The build quality of the unit is very good and solid. The materials and finish of the M-Model gun are very good and the movement of the trigger and the adjusting knobs are nice and smooth. The noise level of the Turbine was not as loud as I had expected. There was no need for hearing protection like there would be with an air compressor. I sprayed an area of about 8’ x 10’ very easily. The paint was laid down smooth and even. The paint was an automotive type paint with a hardener and a reducer mixed in as per the manufacturers instructions. I did not use the Viscosity Cup to check the paint. The unit was easy to use and easy to clean after. The hose is thick and solid looking but very flexible , it looks heavy but I did not notice the weight as I was spraying. I would highly recommend the unit.”
