Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon (Nintendo Switch)

First thing to know about this is, it's very different from the other 3 Bayonetta games and so may not directly appeal to fans of the series. However, it's an excellent game in its own right and one I can see being considered a 'hidden gem' in the future.You control Cereza (a young Bayonetta) as she navigates an enchanted forest filled with nefarious faeries. Cereza can't fight by herself and relies on her giant demon Cheshire to attack and harm enemies. Cereza can use magic though and her abilities are crucial to combat, which sees you control both characters at once - something that sounds confusing, but is cleverly done so as to feel intuitive right from the get go.Outside of combat, you also control both characters to traverse the forest, something that requires using the two in tandem to solve puzzles to unlock new routes and find secret paths etc. These puzzles are rarely hugely taxing but they still feel satisfying and make going form place to place more interesting than just running through the environment and occasionally fighting something.The visuals are also absolutely beautiful. Seeing the game in trailers doesn't do it justice. There's also a kind of Celtic theme going on, which is really nicely done in an understated way.Overall, a really great game. It feels like a throwback to GameCube / PS2 era games, when adventures were more focused and self-contained with the intention of telling one story and telling it really well - rather than trying to be as big and open and sprawling as possible as often seems the case these days. The mechanics are interesting, the world looks incredible, the characters are well-written, and I found this to be a hugely pleasant surprise.

This isnt the usual game I go for but being a bayonetta fan I thought I'd go for it, one for the collection. This game looks amazing, simple yet absolutely stunning, made for the OLED, nice little story book sections with a combat system that is again simple but so satisfying. I'm hooked, it's better than bayonetta 3

not quiet as the bayonetta games but a fun addition to the series

Cereza a beautiful game, a piece of classic game design made with obvious love and a distinct artistic vision. But most importantly, it made me smile throughout. The relationship between the leads is adorable and it constantly surprised me with its attention to detail. Once you pass the introduction, the game opens up into something rather special. I hope in future this game gets recognised for the absolute gem is really is. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a well-crafted story.

To tell you the truth I wasn't expecting much from this game but I was wrong. The scenery, characters and graphics have been designed in a beautifully charming way. The fighting at first can seem a pain because you're controlling two characters at the same time can seem a bit frustrating but as you play you easily get used to it.The storybook setting is charming and the character voice acting is very good.So for me definitely worth buying.

As a completionist, I wanted to have this in my Bayonetta collection. I wasn't a big fan of the gameplay at first, but it grow on me. The need to control both Cheshire and Cereza at the same time is good to strengthen the link between the two hemispheres of the brain.
