Excellent, versatile product at this price point - highly recommended
I wanted something simple and compact for our kitchen / dining room and this fit the bill perfectly.I have used Yamaha products for over 30 years. Along with Sony, they are about the best of the big Japanese hi-fi brands (real hi-fi comes from small European producers, but that's another story!).I have bought many Yamaha products over the years - amplifiers, AV units, speakers, subs, even cassette decks (remember those) and FM radios. And I even had one of the motorcycles once!As expected, the build quality is excellent for this product at this price point. Set-up is a little fiddly, so allow about an hour. It comes delivered in two relatively small boxes. The MC470D is very compact, the speakers very much bookshelf-sized models. They even give you a bundle of speaker cable too, though I used my own with banana plugs. The AV unit simply needs to be connected to the speakers and the mains. There is a freebie DAB / FM antenna to screw into the back, that I stuck on the window using blutac. The most important aspect of the set-up is the network connectivity. This enables you to connect to your existing home network and integrate with Yamaha MusicCast which I was using already to listen to NetRadio and Spotify, etc, with my main hi-fi system. In the room where I sited the unit, wireless signalling was poor (not a fault of the Yamaha unit), so I gave up and used an ethernet wired connection instead. The unit is supplied with a brief ‘quick start’ manual. I’d advise you to do as I did and download the full 50-page pdf from the Yamaha website. You’ll need the detail to work out and use the full functionality of the remote control, among other things.Sound quality is very acceptable. It won’t go down in the annals of hi-fi history but it’s pretty good, and more than fit for its intended use, considering you get a (not very powerful) amplifier, CD player, FM and DAB radio, aux line input, etc and all the network / Bluetooth connectivity in one unit that costs under £300. CD and FM sound were very good considering the engineering compromises there must be in such a small, compact unit.Well done, Yamaha - another excellent product that gets 5 stars for value for money and build quality.

Small but powerful
I bought this to replace a similar system that purchased, mainly for the ability to send my music to Bluetooth headphones. As I have some hearing loss I needed this so I could listen to music at night without disturbing my neighbour. The sound quality is much better than my previous system. Although when playing my old record collection the sound is reproduced at lower volume, so I have to remember to reduce the volume before switching media. Setting up the app was fairly problem free, only one hiccup but that was my error. I am by no means an audiophile but I know when the sound coming from the speakers is good. Overall I would recommend this system if your looking for something relatively inexpensive compared to other systems on the market, but still very good quality.

Great unit!
Sound quality is excellent, it does all the things that I wanted it to do and it does them well. Overall I'm really happy with it.Two minor (for me) negatives - the bluetooth seems to lag when I have my TV outputting to the unit, and I had to switch off 5ghz on my WiFi so that everything would connect to 2.4ghz, because the app wouldn't connect unless everything was on 2.4ghz. A little irritating and took me a while to figure out which was frustrating.

Fabulous
I love the sound quality & the way this looks.Great but if kit the sound quality is amazing!I use Deezer as my music app and it works great plays my playlists and gives control ability from my phone and the remote. My friend has used her Spotify and that worked great too.I don’t find the Alexa interface is quite there yet and never seems to do the multi room on Alexa echo’s. This isn’t really an issue though think the technology just isn’t quite there.I did find conecring to the WiFi a little bit difficult because I was using a a ton link wifi booster so had to make sure it paired with my router instead. I also changed my router name and password as online someone mentioned it didn’t like some symbols. To be honest had been meaning to do this for ages anyway as can never remember the ridiculous password from virgin. All in all great purchase I really love it abs find it super easy to use and great sound quality. I got the black and it also looks good and takes up less space than my old hifi.

Brilliant future proof hi-fi from a solid brand
This Yamaha hi-fi took me a day or two to get to grips with and seemed overly complicated at first, but I am so glad I percevered with it.Wow... This system is amazing! The sound is so rich and real compared to my old set up, I'm no audiophile but this hi-fi is the best I have owned to date.I love the fact you can control it with Alexa and an app via a tablet as well as the supplied remote control.Very happy with the speed of delivery too. Overall 10/10

Quality product worth the money.
This looks and feels a quality item and such amazing value for money. The sound is so clear without buzzing, vibrations or annoying any traits. The one really annoying thing is you have to fiddle with bare wires to connect the speakers. It reminded me of how speakers used to be connected in the 1970's. Why they couldn't just have a straight forward plug in, I don't know. I wish too it had a stronger bass sound, but when you turn the sound up it is quite strong and the clarity never falters, so I would give it8 &1/2 out of 10. Overall I am pleased with my purchase and think it is a quality product for a very good price.

Sound quality
Great sound quality. Thankful that it has standard basic bass ànd treble functions unlike some budget stereo systems who offer you the world with loads of equaliser presets whilst sacrificing sound quality. There is a surround sound setting on this unit. More than happy with sound performance. Plays flac, wav files which enhances the sound quality. It also of course plays MP3 files. It also has a net radio system built in with a plethora of various radio stations to choose from. It also has an FM tuner. Great buy and a step up from my last system.
