Jesus Christ, How Horrifying
Bought this to try and swap in some new tires myself, rather than paying the $18+ per tire for the store to do it. Holy hell, am I glad that I was being extra careful with this one, because it broke on the first lift. This thing is supposedly rated for 4,000lbs. My car weighs 3,800 on a really bad day. That should be well within safe limits, right?Guess again. I noticed what looked like a tilt in this thing's wheels as I was placing the jack stand underneath, and was incredibly confused and concerned. I immediately stuffed the jack stand underneath the closest part of the frame I could find for safety purposes, then very gradually eased the release valve open. The frame on this jack had bent clear in the middle. The jack wasn't tilting on its wheels: it was twisting so badly from the weight strain that the wheels were lifting up into the air.Clearly, this item was defective. I'm not sure if I just got unlucky, or if these things aren't actually routinely built to handle the weight they're supposed to be rated for. However, there are enough other bad reviews that I'd strongly urge you to give them a read and thoroughly, THOROUGHLY test your own individual unit before the return window expires. I literally just got mine in yesterday, so I can honestly say that mine lasted less than 24 hours.

Good for emergency use - like changing a flat tire on a car under 4000lbs.
LEARN ABOUT and TEST the jack first. The handle serves TWO purposes - to plug and turn to lock into the top round holder for PUMPING THE JACK - and - to LOWER THE JACK, NOTE there is a big screw below the holder....use the handle to plug onto that screw (note the jack handle has a thin bar inside that goes across the diameter of the handle's circumference) and TURN the screw COUNTER-clockwise to RELEASE THE PRESSURE. Then TURN the screw CLOCKWISE to ALLOW PUMPING AGAIN.My car has a lower profile (NOT THE JACK'S FAULT), so I removed the wheels so I could slide the jack under the car. ALSO - make sure you KNOW where the jack points are on your car (see owner's manual or look it up), so you do not break side molding, etc.I was able to pump the jack up high enough to remove the tire...but BE CAREFUL. As with any SMALL jack ESPECIALLY, tugging and pulling on the lug nuts and tire could cause the jack to tip over and your car will come CRASHING DOWN.This jack is good for emergency tire changing, etc. Durable enough, but REMEMBER IT IS SMALL - so it could BECOME UNSTABLE if the car is rocked (NOT THE JACK'S FAULT).
