Makes sharpening most domestic blades a walk in the park.
Have used the Lansky systems for many years. This was bought as a replacement stone for use when a blade has nicks or is very blunt. For a non-skilled knife sharpener like me this retained angle sharpening system works wonders and can put a wonderful edge on a blade.Service from the seller was quick, had the stone the very next day.

When I first opened the packaging I thought the stone might not be coarse enough,but,on using it it was up to the job.I've only used it once,so,I could not give it five stars because I do not knowIf it would wear well after continued use.I'm happy so far.

Lansky extra coarse hone...........
This is the starting point that I use when sharpening a knife for the first time or one that has been used brutally. It sets the edge to the chosen angle, removing metal quickly.

Great but designed to fail.
These hones are great while they last but become brittal and break at the point where the guide rod attaches long before the stone wears out.
