🖋️ This is a great little book of crosswords that can be challenging at times, depending on your ability, but the book is addictive. As I write this on New Year's Day, my family is busy doing yet another puzzle. I quite like the challenge, and even if you don’t complete them because there is an unfamiliar word, the solutions are in the back, and it is educational. We have certainly had our mental blanks filled in with the names of obscure birds and insects. I also like when there is a themed crossword where many of the words have the same endings or it’s the turn of types of staged music.📖 If you get frustrated by not being able to finish a crossword because there is one word that eludes you, particularly when the clue is somewhat oblique, then this collection might not be for you. Most of the clues lead to familiar words or can be worked out, and missing one of those is the most frustrating. On a personal note, I found that I became better at the crosswords as I went along, so practice makes perfect. Once this one is finished, I will certainly be tempted to get another. ✔️

very good crossword book, keeps me amused in this winter weather.

I have never been much of a crossword user. However, La Laing has become one. So I must follow. I have found some of the clues and answers quite befuddling, yet I cannot stop at just one puzzle. I'm told that you have to get into how particular puzzle books work. Meanwhile, this stuff is addictive. Looking to score my next book soon.

Good quality item

There's 300 crosswords in this bad boy, so if it's only crosswords you enjoy and don't want to have to wait until the next time you buy a newspaper or you don't want to have to flick through Word Searches and Spot the differences in Puzzlers and the like, this book is for you. It's built like a regular paperback book. Pages are reasonable in quality between a regular paperback page and a thick newspaper page. Though the quality could be better, it retains the feel of doing a puzzle in the newspaper. The pages aren't good for pencil though, which is unfortunate and an eraser will smudge the actual crossword ink. I use a pen and lightly mark boxes which are questionable. This book will last me a while so it's definitely worth the £4 paid!

Most of these entertaining crosswords have a hidden gimmick to be found within the completed grid, if you search. I've solved over 50 so far with a success rate of about 75% (and no cheating!)

I find this book pretty good. Some puzzles are a bit harder than others. Occasionally I find myself querying the definition of some words, stretching the imagination a tad here and there. Personally, I'm soon lost when the clues refer to the classics (by which I mean Latin and Greek mythical heroes), but there aren't too many of those. It saves major frustration to know that the answers are in the back of the book anyway. Good value.
