ESV Journaling Bible (TruTone, Teal, Resplendent Cross Design)

I recently purchased this book for a friend for her birthday. I own the black hard cover version of this book, and I knew she had liked it, so I decided t o go ahead and buy her a copy. In doing an Amazon search I found out this version of the book, the leather wrapped version, was available. I will admit I am slightly disappointed I didn't know it existed months ago when I got mine!The strap needs to be installed by the purchaser, but it's super simple so it's not a big deal. This book is basically the basic ESV Journaling Bible with a different cover. Some may find the text a little small, but I think it's perfect so the Bible isn't too large. The single column design seems to flow much better for some reason as well. I honestly thought I would use the lines on the side more, but I am finding that I have much more to write than the lines can hold, so perhaps the Journibles or a notebook of your own would be a better choice if you like to write a lot of notes. But, still a wonderful Bible for short notes, cross references, etc.As a slight critique, and I know this isn't a study Bible, but I would love to see a few more cross-references. For instance, when an OT passage is quoted in the NT, the passage will be linked back to the text in the OT. But, the reverse is not true. In reading Psalms I came across several passages quoted that were not linked back to the NT, so I had to do a Google search (I write the references on the lines so when I reread I know where things are quoted. I also do the same for the parallels in the gospels). This isn't a huge issue, and it doesn't change my rating on the product overall, but it would just be nice. Again, I know this isn't a study Bible, and I'm not looking for a ton of cross references (I have my ESV Study Bible for that). But the reverse cross-references would be helpful.I do recommend this Bible if you are looking for one to just take short, general notes. for more intensive notes probably a verse-by-verse Bible would be more helpful if you don't mind writing all over the pages. But just for simple study (perhaps in studying more in depth writing the cross-references in the margin), a wonderful tool. I read this specific Bible daily.

I love the Bible, i love leather, and I love journaling so this is awesome! I prefer the NASB to the ESV but I wanted to try it out - I like having lots of different translations to compare and as a theology major in seminary, I find it helpful since a lot of recent commentaries have started using ESV over NASB or NIV. I was apprehensive about the little column for the journaling and thought that I would not be able to fit much writing onto it, but because the lines are so narrow, I can fit a lot and I write with a fine tip pen so my writing is pretty small. I like to use it as a devotional where I read a page and then write about how it is changing my life in that moment. for me, I needed something to help me get out of study mode with the Bible and into personal mode. You could also use this for studying where you can make notes on Hebrew/Greek words, or key points from sermons and commentaries that you like. I prefer to use it for personal reflection. The leather is also really soft but thick enough not to be flimsy and there is a little elastic loop for a pen.

I'm not sure where to start with this review. I really love this bible. It just wants to be held. It feels "broken in" straight out of the box. The way it is bound allows it to open flat at the beginning and the end which is so nice with a thick book. The leather is supple, and has just gotten softer and nicer over time. I did take off the strap after using it for a few months. I carry my Bible in a Tom Bihn Co-Pilot so the strap isn't needed.The pages have a nice feel, they aren't the typical stark white onionskin. They are creamy and thicker to look at and touch. They give a substantialness, but not so much so that the bible feels unwieldy.My only niggle is that there is little reference material included with the bible. I wish there was a simplified concordance and some maps. I'm glad there is no commentary, I can go online, or to one of my other bibles for that, but I wish when I am reading and need a map or to quickly find a scripture reference I didn't have to look elsewhere. I did know this when I bought the bible, so it isn't a bad mark, just something that I feel would improve it.Overall, I feel it's full of win and I am very happy with my choice !

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this Bible.Things that I love?The pages fold down REALLY REALLY flat. I have over current/recent publications such as a very expensive Calfskin ESV study bible, a thin line ESV, another small single column ESV bible, a journal wide margin NASB, a couple parallel bibles, a Life Application NIV bible, a few types of "The Message" Bibles.This Bible is hands down - waaay better in quality. I think this is going to be my go-to Bible (as far as the rest of them? I am okay with parting ways/donating or leaving them as shelf/reference Bibles).The pages are light beige in color as others mentioned, the type does visible come through the pages (ghosting), but I would have to agree with some other reviews, the pages are matte, very smooth, but not slick and "sticky" like most recent publications of the Bible (the ESV Study Bible is one that comes to mind).The leather version of this is amazing, I am glad I went with this version, every time I wrap up the Bible, I use that as a tangible reminder to guard my heart from the sins/evil of the world. It is a great remind to protect my heart, and not let it be swayed from the pressures of people or temptations of lust, or other personal desires/greed.I highly recommend this Bible - and it might even make an amazing gift to friends/loved ones in the future!

Wow!!!! I love this Bible! I couldn't be more pleased! The journaling Bible is so helpful in meditating on Scripture and allowing the Bible to penetrate your heart! The pages are really nice and thick like journaling paper. The single margin makes reading and journaling so much easier. The leather is beautiful and such an amazing touch. This Bible is beyond my review! This is God's Word & I couldn't be more pleased :D

All honour to JESUS to get me this Bible , waited for almost 3 weeks to get it !The leather is awesome and the pages are cream coloured and not very thin as the normal Bibles . There's enough space for journaling, all who love to journal and want a Bible that looks like those of Biblical times, this is it!Simply amazing Bible!

I simply love and enjoy this Bible. I bought it because of the single column layout which I think is better for journaling because you don't have to try to make notes for two parallel columns of Biblical text in one margin. The leather look is gorgeous. The paper is just the right shade of colour. I take the Bible to church to make notes on the sermons which means removing the leather binding strap but that's easily accomplished. Superb product.

I bought this for my wife for christmas and she loves it, excellent quality product.

This is a stunning bible. I only wish it was slightly bigger but it's still a good size. Seems like very good quality, especially for the price. The paper isn't too thin or weak like some bibles. Font is a good size, not too big ad not too small. Of course my favourite thing is the tie. I would recommend this as a gift for anyone.
