Berkley PowerBait Trout Fishing Dough Bait

Works great for stock rainbow trout during daytime especially hour before sunset
First time using this rainbow glitter rainbow trout scented dough. Was pretty amaze how well it worked. Caught my limit of 5 within 45 minutes at echo lake. They just stocked the lake so I knew where they were so that helped. But making a little ball with this dough and cover half a small hook on 6 pound leader mono line and a small bobber and wait within five minutes start getting bite. One downside is the rainbow trout like this so much they pretty much swallowed the hook. So can't catch and release which I rather do. Once I do get a clean hook set on corner of lip I can save them and release them. So last night able to released 3 and kept 2 for dinner because they pretty much took the hook too deep. They do taste good for stock trouts. At night time thought the scent will attract the same rainbow trout at the same spot but no bites. The rainbow color did not work well either even though I was next to park lights. Gonna purchase the garlic flavor floating dough and give it a try for night time. Because i notice they were trying to bite stuff on the surface. Wish me luck and will update.Update: 1/1/2021Been trying to use the original garlic scent for a week, finally today was able to catch almost my limit.Other days was not getting any bite. But from the rainbow glitter extra scent vs the original garlic scent I would go with the rainbow glitter extra scent. Seem to catch more with that bottle. Also if you want to catch and release, these powerbait might not work too well because they love these dough so much most of the time they just swallow these. Once you gut hook them you don't can't release them where I see so many people do. So try light gear, 4-6pound rod and 4-6pound flourocarbon line so you can feel the fish biting right away to set the hook to get less chance of them swallowing the bait. Good luck and fish on 2021!

Keep a jar in your gear, you never know when you might use it.
I do not prefer to fish with power bait. However, I do know it works and it lasts FOREVER! I keep a few jars (Orange and Pink) around just in case. I have had both jars for several years now and every now and then I will use it and I almost always catch trout. I use it with a slip sinker and a fine wire treble hook. The treble hook holds the bait better than a single hook and you can cast it farther. I put enough Powerbait on to float the hook and use a 2-foot leader. Trout are nomadic and cruise around a lake. When they see a bright ball of Powerbait suspended off the bottom they will often take it. I have caught some pretty big trout using this method.

For hatchery trout, there's nothing better.
TWRA stock a local pond twice every winter. The first year my friends and I went, we caught nothing even though we saw other people reeling in the rainbows. I asked, and was told to use THIS product. Every year since (six years now) including THIS year, we catch our limit within an hour or two. I have literally sat at the bank pulling in a fish every few minutes while people beside me who were there before I arrive (and will stay after I'm gone) don't get so much as a nibble. Our pond is seasonal, opening back on Jan. 1st (it will close in early March) and so far I've ordered a jar of this every week since opening day (bringing home 21 trout every weekend in the process.)I've seen people try other brands, other baits, lures, live bait, and NOTHING comes close to the effectiveness of this product.

STRONG smell of Garlic. Which is a good thing.
You can usually find these a little cheaper at Walmart, but the selection on Amazon is pretty darn good. I used this color (GARLIC/Green) over the weekend and it was fresh and stayed on the hook. I highly recommend the following colors for trout in Northern California: Orange, Rainbow, Green (garlic), Pink, and Yellow. I have had success using powerbait for years and when you pair with a trebble hook, it can be deadly good. Use with about an 18 inch leader of 4-6lb floro line.

Good powerbait that typically works at stocked lakes
Trout can sometimes be picky and this color powerbait is typically one of the colors they like. I’d put this color in my top 5 powerbait colors! I recommend people to always include this to your tackle box especially at a good price. This is going to be my 2nd jar this season.

Interesting color misture
Honestly I have not used power baits for a long time but this past fishing trip, showed me that fish attack power bait more than mice tail that I have always used for the past 5 years. Possibly trouts like the dough better these day or changed their preferences, Lady of the lake knows, no matter using some old power baits in my tackle box was really productive. So that is why I ordered whole bunch of Berkley power baits from amazon. I believe this fall and winter I'll be coming home with my limits every time that I fish.I recommend berkley power bait as they stick to the hook longer than other products in the market.

Dry it before using
Great product but it was to heavy it does not float, which is nessecary for fish to bite. Although trout do bottom feed it is essential it is at least 6 inches off the floor. After drying for 2 days it floats and i was able to catch allot of trout after that. Before that this product was 0/10 after drying i caught so many trout i trully was astonished at the results.

Best trout bait that actually works that I've found!
I see and hear a lot of other fisherman swear by that powerbate goop stuff in a little jar, the bright pink and green and yellow stuff you form over a hook but I've personally never even once caught anything at all on that stuff in my local area. Even panfish avoid that bright colored stuff here. This stuff actually produces bites! Especially for stocked trout even if they're released and in a wild stream. These are extremely similar to what they're fed at the hatchery so they know it's food and go after it. Using this stuff even at hatcheries I'm standing next to others fishing using the bright colored stuff who are sitting there bored to death while I'm reeling in fish after fish. The con is that there aren't a whole lot of them in the packaging, there's definitely enough to catch a creel limit several times before having to restock. Which is probably something I'll be doing. I have yet to try these at a stocked lake near me that's infamously extremely difficult to catch fish out of. They're definitely there and there's some big ones, but other than a few days around when they're stocked getting them to bite anything rarely to never happens. I have faith this bait might be the trick for waterways like that.

Great product but not caught anything yet!!
At the moment, I have yet to have a successful catch with this stuff. Our last fishing day between 2 of us we nearly used the full 50g tub. We tried various fishing methods and caught nothing. The guy fishing about 20m down the bank from us was using the same stuff and he caught 4 fish in an hour! I'm thinking we were in the wrong spot as it was working for this other guy. One thing I will say is, the powerbait is easy enough to work with and chatting to a few people, there are different ways to use it, with or without bait, single or triple hooks mixed with different bait. It has a great track record. I just need to get it working for me. Will buy again and hope I get a better fishing spot next time.

Fish on!!!!!!
I initially got this after so many outstanding reviews. To start with, I wasn't impressed then, the weather got warmer. Fishing with this off the bottom along with a Powerbait Mouse tail, I caught 5 Rainbows in just over an hour. The mousetails alone didn't do much as with this on its own. Together, I discovered trout dynamite!!! Give it a go on a 3ft leader off a sinker. Works every time. I rarely need to reel in to re bait my hook. Like the title says, FISH ON!!!!!

Too good to be true?
The conditions were unique. It was a lake over 8000ft up in the Pyrenees and crystal clear (which allowed for a very good view of responses to the bait). The little ones liked it for about 3 seconds and attacked it with relish before losing interest (perhaps it was a case of “it smells like a cheeseburger, but tastes like a toilet seat”).The bigger ones wouldn’t even react to it when dropped right in their path. I left the bait out at various depths (which can rather handily be adjusted by volume of bait on the hook) for various amounts of time and no response was forthcoming. There are loads of 'OMG amayyyzing' reviews on t'internet but this just wasn't the case for me.Perhaps it's all in the technique. So blanked, which doesn’t unduly worry me, I just think that next time I’ll leave this stuff at home.

Great product
I caught a 20lb rainbow trout on second cast at a stocked fishery with a size 18 treble hook and these pellets in cheese flavour then after that it was constant action all day had to leave early is it was becoming costly to fish couldn't recommend enough great stuff thanks
