Do you need a modded ps2 for it to work ?

Yes and No, the disc will work regardless but with a phat ps2 you will need to take off the disc cover to get the slider in and with the ps2 silm you will need to do some sort of modification.

I think ntsc games run anyway without swap magic. If not try to use a backip copy of game in pal format
