Inventive Electronic Fusion
Mark Lawrence's brand of fusion-electronica blooms further still with his new album 'Mirrors'.His 2012 debut 'Mala In Cuba' captured the musical spirit of the country in a vividly contemporaryway. Travels in Peru seem to have broadened his sonic palette even more as he employs Andeansounds and rhythms in electrifyingly inventive ways. Exotic sonic reflections of a beautiful country.Sometimes things are as simple and as light as air (witness the lovely song 'Cunumicita', performedwith sultry conviction by Peruvian vocalist Danintse Palomino); elsewhere there's a percussive riotgoing on in numbers such as 'Cusco Street Scene' and 'Inga gani'' and something a bit more broodingand dangerous on inventions like (the almost proggy) 'Dedication 365' and the sinister 'They're Coming. If you're up for a bit of tap dancing too then listen no further than 'Zapateo' and do your best to join in!Top track : 'Sound Of The River' featuring the delightfully bright and quirky voice of Sylvia Falcon. An immensely enjoyable project.
