A Nice Little Story
This is a nice little story, and kids will enjoy it as an easy read. There is not a lot of plot, but the illustrations and text are still enjoyable. This used book arrived in great condition, and that is always a bonus!

Stirs the imagination
My hope for this book was that a little boy who doesn't know how to read yet might linger and look at the pictures and get that wistful dreamy feeling that you can get out of a book. I gave it to my son for his birthday, and he was pretty busy sword fighting, but one of his little guests settled right into the armchair and soaked it up for a good long while:). I possibly wouldn't recommend it for adopted children because the dragon misses his family that he never met and leaves to find them, which might not be a useful tool for an adoptive family.

So, So...
I was really looking forward to this book to read with my four-year-old son. With the rave reviews and the recommendation by a well respected classical education company I really was expecting more. The illustrations were cute and all but I felt the story really fell flat, even for a preschool read-aloud; almost cliché. We used to own a book a while ago along the same kind of story line, Raising Dragons I believe it was called, and we enjoyed that read much better, even if the illustrations weren't quite as refined those found in this work.

Great for dragon-loving son
I bought this for my 5 year old, dragon-loving son. He really likes it and I think the pictures are excellent. It's not one of his favorite books, but he has so many I don't think it's anything specific to this book. I like it because it's the perfect length for a bedtime story (i.e. not too long). I plan to purchase other books in the series.

Great for young dragon fans!
My daughters are obsessed with dragons. There aren't many age-appropriate dragon books for the preschool/lower elementary set (especially picture books with realistic dragons). This series begins with The Egg and moves on to 3 other related stories. We loved The Egg and The Dragon Snatcher. We liked The Great Dragon Rescue and The Dragon & the Gruesome Twosome. All of the stories follow the adventures of a boy named George and the dragon that he hatches. The illustrations are what makes this series so enjoyable; they are realistic and colorful and full of detail.

Great Easter Gift!
We bought this--I mean, the Easter Bunny brought it--for our toddler's Easter Basket this year. It's a great story and really transcends the holiday. I see this being a mainstay at bedtime well into summer. Appropriate for toddler though elementary school.

The Egg
A very sweet and cozy story. This is a fanciful tale which my four year old grandson loved. The illustrations are colorful and exaggerated which pulls a young child right into the plot.

Beautiful pictures in this book
Enjoyed this book very much and a great read for an independent reader age 7. He found it really fun.

Great book for a dragon topic
I bought this to use in class as part of a Dragons topic for Y1 pupils. The children absolutely loved the book and were able to use the front cover to make predictions before trying to guess what was in the egg and where they would go when they flew away together. Both boys and girls loved it (as did I) and I would highly recommend it as a text.

Children’s book
This was not what I was expecting. Perhaps there is an adult book called The Egg but this isn’t it. My mistake? I passed it on to a 6 year old.

Poor quality and drawn all over
I am very disappointed- whilst used it stated in the description very good condition, however the book is ripped and has scribbles all over it. More importantly it had labels stating property of xxx public library, not convinced this is something that should have been sold to be honest.
