Elegant and practical questioning model
I started applying techniques from this book even before I finished reading it. I am enjoying using the QuestGen model in my work conversations, and it is helping me improve my coaching capabilities and questioning skills.

This book will fundamentally help you rethink your interactions at work
In my experience, companies are spending less time and money training their managers and leaders. You might turn to a book to help, but the trouble is there are thousands of books that purport to help.Well, let me assure you, this book will make a difference. It has for me.It can help the first-time manager who hasn’t yet learned how to be a line manager. Equally it can help a senior executive who needs to create capacity through more effective delegation and empowerment.Wherever you are in your career, I strongly urge you to read this book, and employ the techniques clearly laid out. It will make a difference.

Changed my professional life!
I was really struggling as a managing partner in a busy medical practice. I knew how to be an effective doctor but not an effective manger. Using the "operational coaching" method advocated by the authors, I have been able to change the entire culture of my employees and instead of spending my time going from emergency to emergency, I have created an environment of staff that self sufficient and all pulling in the same direction. I can't recommend this book enough.

Can't wait to read this!
I had the privilege of meeting Dominic last month and listen to him speak about the STAR model of transforming managers and leaders. He's really on to something folks! His book 'The Answer is a Question' is next on my reading list! I already own it - and so should you!!

Transformational!
If you want to stop spending your day firefighting solving everyone's "urgent" problems and exercise the executive functions your position demands, start asking more questions! I've used the STAR® techniques personally in my coaching and consulting practice and in my personal life with great success. Moreover, I've seen it do wonders in just weeks for even the most reactive, answer-driven managers transforming their teams into problem-solvers and redesigning an unengaged, disgruntled organization into one that posted their best months of productivity and profit.

So excited to see this book now available to the public and for everyone to have the opportunity to learn the STAR method and add 'Coaching' to their leadership role!I grew into leadership over my 12 year 'run' with Nike so a Coaching approach to leadership is in my DNA. The Title Says It All
Laura & Dominic Ashley-Timms have created a great way to think about your management style that allows your colleagues the ability to think for themselves and allow you to get on with other things. The book is well structured, straightforward with lovely recapping along the way. It is printed on fabulous paper with easy to read font. I'm recommending the book to many of my coaching clients.

It’s a one stop shop
The Answer is a Question is a superb piece of work. It covers every aspect of coaching in an east to read and east to digest way. It’s set out beautifully and it’s very easy to follow. I’d call it essential reading for leaders at all levels as the world gets used to a different set of goals and expectations from businesses and the individuals in them. Get a copy today.

This will be a disruptor...it's already changed my thinking
This has changed my whole thinking about what we've been doing to support our employees. As the General Manager of a medium-sized enterprise, we have been through a similar journey to the historic approach highlighted in the book with respect to our investment in coaching programmes, with similarly disappointing results.I now feel I have a clear route forward of how we can upskill all of our managers, by making some simple changes, and how we can achieve tangible results quickly. The approaches described by the authors have the potential to disrupt how we all think about coaching permanently. It was only recently we recognised that we were simply pumping money out of the company paying for the services of 3rd party coaching providers and this wasn't translating into a wider or visible change in our company performance.I'll be buying copies of this book for my SMT and for my HR team.

A must-read for all managers and leaders
This book gave me so many "light-bulb" moments that it was like someone had turned a set of floodlights on! Learning about the STAR® model and being able to put it into practice so quickly is a game-changer. Simple changes to your behaviour as a manager, a leader, a parent, a friend, can have such wide-ranging impacts for you and others.I've read quite a few business books, but they are usually all variations on a theme, repackaging things that you already really know, but just struggle to use consistently. This book is different; it teaches you something new. It changes how you think and how you act. When you start putting the STAR® model into use, you really will feel like you've discovered your missing superpower! It could transform your work and your life... I highly recommend any manager, aspiring manager or leader reads this.

I have found this book invaluable
As a manager, I wanted to ensure I was doing everything I could to support my team and drive the right results, as well as develop my own skills. I ordered this book (The Answer is a Question) after reading some of the reviews on Amazon and I can honestly say, the book has not disappointed. It is incredibly insightful and has provided me with some great advice into my habits and the way I look and handle things. I also loved the fact the STAR model has been separated into easy-to-follow steps which I am now applying, not just in my work life, but also outside of work too. I have found this book invaluable and would highly recommend.
