The Bolivian Incident: Hollis Whittaker Book 2

Hollis Whittaker (the first book) kept me up at night turning pages, so I was hoping the second book would do the same. It did. Shanahan has a knack for unique storylines that keep you wondering what is going to happen next. Don't be fooled by the young protagonist, these novels aren't children's books, though kids in their teens and up would likely enjoy them. I'd consider them along the lines of Stranger Things, not suitable for children, but thrilling adventures for anyone older.

I was told by a friend about this book; he could probably claim truthfully to have read every word CB Shanahan has ever written. He said it would be an enjoyable read and so it was. The plot and character details were rich and consistently clear, no out-of-character detours or plot dead-ends. My only problem (and I was advised of this before buying this book) is that it is the second volume of a planned trilogy so that some of the characters had backstories not fully detailed. But I think that would likely have bogged down the early part of the book. Now I'll buy the first book and maybe later re-read this current one to enjoy it all over again. Highly recommended!
