Brilliant
Firstly, I have to say, these are excellent! I haven’t used glass paints now for over 20 years. I first tried glass painting when I left school decades ago. I could only buy them individually from a little artist shop then, and I remember they were soooo expensive, so I had to make do with only 3 colours to keep cost down. For a few years I was obsessed with painting glassware with intricate designs using tubes of relief outliner to draw the patterns. Then I just stopped and have not used glass paints since - until now….Vitrail by pebeo have always been the best quality glass paints, with a good choice of colours and consistency. This set has a great variation of shades and is perfect for subtle colour changes. The set does not come with a relief outliner which would have benefitted the glass paint beginner who was starting from scratch.I had an old plain half glass dark wood door that I was going to chuck as it had been scratched and chewed by my pets and was looking worse for wear, but as a self confessed hoarder, I couldn’t bear the thought of letting it go, so i decided to try and restore it. After completely sanding it down, I still thought it looked dull so wondered if a bit of colour would liven it up, but as I hadn’t used glass paints for years I wasn’t confident. However, these glass paints were so easy to use, they adhered effortlessly to the glass and a little goes a long way. They do drip so it’s best to apply thin layers and to layer the colour if you want more intensity. The paint dries relatively quickly but if you make a mistake, can be wiped away if you’re prompt. If you use too much paint, it does tend to pool in corners, so patience is the key. Once the paint is dry it looks great and is almost indiscernible from professional stained glass. I was delighted with the results these gave, they turned an old knackered ugly door fit for the tip, into a lovely Art Deco style door, giving my room colour and feature. Whether you are an accomplished artist or only have basic rudimentary skills, these glass paints are easy to use, are superb quality and well worth trying. I love them!

Versatile paint
I have used this to make a faux stained glass window using stick on lead strips to divide the colours. Unfortunately the window could not be removed for painting, so it was vertical when I used it. The result is a little streaky in a few places. However, I have since learned that you can flood the areas with the paint when applying to a horizontal flat surface and this makes a very good effect. The colours are intense and concentrated, but you can buy colour lightener and also I have just seen that you can buy a thickening medium which means that it will be easier to apply to vertical surfaces with no streaking. Ha, wish I had seen that first. You do need to wash your brushes with white spirit and the paint can be a wee bit smelly if you are using a lot of it, but the quality of the colours and vibrancy is well worth the inconvenience. A little goes a long way because the colours are very concentrated. The finish is very glossy and the colours mix and blend well together. With using the flooding technique all sorts of wonderful effects can be created from marbling to starburst effects. It is really fun. I believe you can use this paint on other substrates also and that it can be used to great effect in mixed media pieces, so this is well worth a try. Overall, very impressed with this quality paint.

These glass paints were always great and still are!
I used to do glass painting a lot many years ago and painted just about anything I could get my hands on, so I was really looking forward to having another go. I still have a few old bottles of Vitrail colour, which after sitting for so many years were past their best and certainly not in a such a range of colours as this great set offers!Rummaging around in my cupboard, I found a couple of tubes of outliner, which to my surprise were still usable. (By the way, you don't have to use outliner, it depends of what you want to do.)I tested these new colours on a piece of acetate. They apply in the same way as I remember, with a brush and aren't gel, so if you're painting something upright, build layers up gradually, rather than putting it on too thickly and risk them running. (You can clean up errors if you're quick before it goes tacky too).It applies well and gives a lovely bright, yet sheer colour - just the effect you're looking for with stained glass type projects. The paint does have a strong smell, like I remembered, so open your window if possible. This dissipates quite quickly though and doesn't last for ages. The effect of these paints are as good as ever and this set offers a fantastic collection to be able to work with. It's also a really good price.Thoroughly recommend and I'm looking forward to painting lots of things again.

More suited for flat subjects
I wanted to give these 4.5 stars as I'm really on the wall about giving 4 stars and 5 stars purely based on the thickness of these well momre specifically the thinness of this paint.Havign never used anything liek this before I was shocked to discover the paint quite thin, ironically it tells you how to thin the paint in the product description.I did try painting on apatio door and just gave up as the paint is so thin it just ran down the drro and after the 2nd coat i just gace up with all the mess.Better suited for flatter objects that you can paint while laying them flat ie glasses or jewelerry boxes. It's important to say you just get the paint you don't get any stencils this if free hand work only not something you woud do with children.Good value for money for glass paint as i presumed this would be more expensive, more suited for the more expereinced artist unlike myself who is a trying artist yet fails everytime unless you like abstract paintings.
