Lightweight and Easy to Travel With – Great Stabilization, but Best for Smaller Camera Setups
🎥 Product Review: DJI RS 3 Mini 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer ⭐ Rating: 4.6/5 The DJI RS 3 Mini is a really strong option for creators who want smooth footage without carrying a huge, heavy gimbal. Its biggest strengths are portability, solid stabilization, and support for vertical shooting, but most professional reviews also note that it’s best suited for lighter mirrorless setups rather than heavier pro rigs. DJI lists it at about 795g in portrait mode / 850g horizontal with a tested payload of 0.4–2 kg (0.8–4.4 lbs). ✅ What I Like 🔹 Very lightweight and travel-friendly This is one of the biggest reasons people like it. Professional reviewers and DJI both highlight how compact and easy it is to carry compared with larger gimbals, which makes it great for weddings, events, travel shoots, and run-and-gun content. 🔹 Smooth stabilization for mirrorless cameras The RS 3 Mini inherits DJI’s RS-series stabilization approach, and reviewers generally praise it for delivering pro-looking movement for its size class. DJI also positions it as supporting mainstream mirrorless combinations, including setups like a Sony A7S III with a 24–70mm f/2.8 GM. 🔹 Great for content creators and solo shooters Because it’s smaller and easier to handle one-handed, it’s especially useful for YouTube, social media content, event coverage, and quick shoots where a bigger rig would slow you down. That’s a common theme in professional coverage of this model. 🔹 Native vertical shooting support A big plus if you create reels, TikToks, Shorts, or other vertical video. DJI specifically calls out the ability to switch between horizontal and vertical shooting without extra accessories. ⚠️ Things to Consider 🔸 Payload is good, but not for everything DJI rates it for up to 2 kg, but that does not mean every 2 kg setup will feel equally comfortable in real-world use. Professional reviewers tend to frame this as a gimbal that shines with compact mirrorless builds, not bulky cinema-style camera/lens combos. 🔸 Manual axis locks One drawback compared with newer or higher-tier models is that the RS 3 Mini uses manual axis locks, not automated locking. That can make setup and packing a little less convenient. DJI confirms this directly. 🔸 Less “pro convenience” than bigger models This is more of a streamlined, portable gimbal than a fully loaded pro system. That’s part of what makes it great, but it also means some users may eventually want a more advanced model if they move into heavier production work. This is an inference based on DJI’s positioning and reviewer comparisons to larger RS models. 🎯 Best For Mirrorless camera users Wedding and event shooters Travel videographers YouTubers and content creators Anyone who wants a lighter alternative to a full-size gimbal 💡 Final Verdict The DJI RS 3 Mini is one of the best options if you want strong stabilization in a smaller, easier-to-carry package. Its biggest selling point is portability, and the main tradeoff is that it’s better for lighter setups and lacks some premium convenience features like auto axis locks. For a lot of creators, though, that tradeoff is worth it.

Great gimbal for video work!
I purchased this gimbal to pair with my Canon R6 MkIII and a 50mm anamorphic lens for video work. Granted the setup instructions are a bit sparse, it didn't take long to figure it out and get it balanced. The touch screen is a bit small for my fingers but doesn't need to be accessed that often. The little trip base supplied with it is nice but is a bit insufficient when a bigger lens is used. It boasts NATO mounting points for accessories (I have a 7" wide screen monitor on it) which wirk okay, but balancing it and a table can be unpredictable. For the price, this gimbal can't be beat! DJI created a great device that you'll wonder how you never got by without one! Highly recommended!

Works great
Works as it suppost to. Only have problems when I push the weight limit with a bigger lens on my big sony a7iv. On a smaller body with prime lens you will have zero problems getting those buttery smoth shoots. Would definitely recommend.

Great-some limitations
It’s great, but has limitations. I tried for hours to get it to work on my zoom lens, but realized it was too heavy for it to handle. Works great on my other lenses though!

Smooth and capable
I just want to start by saying this Mini model is not really designed to handle massive lenses with large camera bodies. With my A7R II and 24-70 lens, I have to adjust the balance of the gimbal to almost its most extreme ends in some cases to keep it stable, and it does struggle with the barrel roll effect just because of the weight of the camera and glass. Aside from this, if you are using something like an A6700 or a Canon M50, you shouldn't have any issues at all. The mounting options are pretty robust, and there is a lot of adjustment that can be made to fit most setups, the controls are easy enough to learn and understand, and the battery life has been pretty good, with me being able to get between 3-4 hours of continuous use. I will say this gimbal is mostly function over form though. There aren't any more modern features like subject tracking built in, and there are only the more basic gimbal modes here, but it's fantastic for a first gimbal or just as a backup, especially if you pare it with the secondary grip that can mount to the side.

Arrived A Lemon
I was excited to get the unit but as soon as I got things set up I found out the screen did not work. On top of that getting the device setup on the app took two days as the serial number was not recognized the first day. Went through the update process once I was set up on the app, thinking am update might fix whatever is causing the screen not to work. It did one update and then started doing a second update and always failed to complete the process. I then spent two hours on the phone with DJI support to see if they could walk me through a process to trouble shoot and potentially getting the unit to work properly. The support person was of little help, needing to explain multiple times what the issue is and what I had already done to see if I could trouble shoot things. They were unable to help and eventually said it would be best to return the device to Amazon. After this I contacted Amazon and was hoping to exchange this unit for another. I went through explaining what the manufacturer recommended and after some back and forth and discussing with their manager they would only do return and refund. I was disappointed in both DJI foe the little help they were and not wanting to stand behind their product. I was disappointed in Amazon as well for not doing an exchange, as they have done countless times for me in the past with other defective products. Now I no longer want to order this device again because I'm not sure if what I receive would work or if it worked how long it would last before something went out on it. Truly disappointed in the experience.

Compact gimbal with excellent stabilization
The DJI RS 3 Mini is an excellent gimbal for anyone using a mirrorless camera setup. It is very lightweight but still feels strong and well built. Even with a camera and lens attached it remains comfortable to hold for longer shooting sessions. The stabilization is extremely smooth and makes handheld footage look much more professional. Balancing the camera is straightforward and the controls are intuitive, which makes setup quick when you are ready to film. I also like how portable it is. It is easy to bring on shoots without adding much weight to your gear bag. Overall this is a fantastic gimbal that delivers great stabilization in a compact and reliable package. Highly recommended for creators and filmmakers.

Good motor strength, easy calibration and balancing process, feels well built
Im using nikon z50 with standard kit lens and this gimbal works perfectly with it. Very stable, good motor strength, easy calibration process and easy to balance. The only thing i don't like about the gimbal is the mount that you attach at the bottom of the camera. Nikon z50 has a display that flips and in order for you to put the mount, the little bit of plastic that keeps the mount straight goes under the screen of camera so you cant close the screen properly. It is a bit ajar. though you can buy a cheap camera mount compatible with the gimbal and this resolves the issue Otherwise very happy with the purchase. Its not light as you might think (because its mini) but definitely not heavy. I found the product a bit expensive but You get what you pay for as I bought another gimbal over this initially as it was half the price of dji gimbal but I returned it as not serving its purpose and it feels very flimsy. So I bought the dji rs3 mini and returned the other one. Im now very happy with my set-up.
