The compass card isn't white, but has a greenish tint, considerably decreasing the contrast with the headings. Finally, inexplicably, the Bezel is a grey / silver plastic with black numerals, making quick reading impossible (for me). Great compass if you have great vision. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Gold Standard Dive Compass *by B***Y on July 30, 2015* This is the standard by which other dive compasses are measured. It's durably built, easy to use, and it always points north. Unless you bought the southern hemisphere model. :-) The compass card is luminescent, however, it is a little difficult to get fully charged. You need to let it spend all day soaking up the sun. Then, yes, you can be in a 100% sealed, darkened room and find your way around. The strap is a little difficult to work with as others have noted. However, it's not that big of a deal.
