Sauder Harbor View 2 Drawer File Cabinet, Lateral Filing Cabinet with Shelving, in Salt Oak finish

We have thoroughly enjoyed this piece of office furniture. It fit nicely in our den without looking like office furniture. Our printer fit perfectly on the top and the drawers are perfect for our home filing needs. It is easy to put together and all the parts fit perfectly, no issues. It is sturdy as well. We found it to be perfect for our needs and the value of the piece of furniture was well worth it.

This cabinet exceeded my expectations. If you don’t look too closely, it looks like a nice piece of furniture and the file drawer is well designed and opens/closes smoothly. There are a lot of parts to assemble but you only need a small hammer and a screwdriver. The instructions are EXCELLENT. It took me about 4 hours to assemble the cabinet, including breaks but everything went well. This cabinet is a great value and looks nice too.

TLDR: THIS LOOKS AMAZING and is SUPER STURDYI purchased the matching L-desk prior to this and really liked the look so I decided to get the companion file cabinet. This thing weighs in around 100 lbs and is VERY sturdy. It took about an hour to assemble, but having put together similar furniture just a few days prior I had the methodology for Sauder assembly mastered. I would recommend that you assemble this very near to where you would like to place it because as I said, it is HEAVY. The only thing that I found VERY SLIGHTLY disappointing was the shelf size, however it was clearly stated in the listing. I chose not to put in the shelf on one side to put some larger items in. I think Sauder would provide a huge benefit if a standard binder could be stood up in the top compartment without the shelves installed. I understand that this would lead to an increase in size/weight/cost. I was pleasantly surprised that the cabinet has a lock on the side to lock the drawer, I don't remember seeing that in the listing so I was happy

Overall, I like this product. Installation was a little tricky, but nothing overly challenging and could easily be done by one person. Personally, I like building/installing things so it only took me about an hour, but I could see it taking someone inexperienced much longer. The directions were easy to follow, and I appreciated the different screws being different colors to help distinguish what you needed.However, one major issue we ran into is that the top is not at all secured properly. It is supposed to be secured with Flanged Lip Quickloc Connectors, but it really should have been with screws. When we tried moving it, the top easily lifts off with mild force even after the Flanged Lip Quickloc Connectors had been installed properly. While this type of connector is much easier/faster to install, it is not as secure as a good wood screw. I think you could probably switch this out for a wood screw if the manufactured holes were a bit different or angled better. I'm not too upset since we don't plan to be moving this around, but something to be aware of is you do want to move it to another room.Another minor thing we noted was that there was a scratch on the middle shelf. It's small and likely not overly noticeable when you are across the room, but I did notice some other reviewers comment on a similar issue. It wasn't something I had noticed until I was already pretty deep into installation, and wasn't a big enough deal to be worth sending the product back. However, if you feel strongly about something like this. I would recommend carefully checking each piece before you start installation.Overall, I like this piece & plan to keep it. I will update this review if any major issues pop up down the line.

This file cabinet is well worth the money. If you follow the directions precisely, it is easy to put together. However, I only had one issue. 2 of the twist lock fasteners broke when I was attaching the last side. The fastener kept moving and that made it difficult to fit the last piece on since there were 6 fasteners that had to attach all at once on the last piece. However, I called the company. They were very nice and helpful and are sending me replacement fasteners at no charge (even though I broke them). I may have broke them because I don't have much experience putting furniture together! They were very cordial and helpful. Good Customer Service.

One of the parts for the bottom above the file cabinet were upside down so the finished side was down so we have to paint the up side very dissapointed

Takes forever to assemble

Solid packaging but would still suggest checking all the pieces before starting construction as this is laminated particle board. Was worried at first about how it would look when finished as the fake wood laminate looked really fake when looking at the individual parts but am quit pleased with it now that it is complete. Assembly was not difficult but block out 3 hours. The instructions are a 7 out 10. A hammer and Phillips head screw driver is all thats needed for assembly. The top can support 50lbs and the lower shelves 40 lbs according to the instruction. If all pf the parts are there and particle board and laminate are in good shape I am betting you will be happy.
