Over critical of one of the best selling groups of all time....
Umm jury still out on this one. The author seems very keen to pick holes in Abbas music e.g. reference to flat notes in concerts and some of the lyrics could have been better, without giving credit where credit is due and acknowledging writing is an art form which improves over time. Also the book, although tells a good story overall, is a bit all over the place e.g. Australia is featured throughout but not really in the right order until he finally devotes a chapter much later in the book. He also loves his thesaurus, which although admirable to learning new words, comes across as someone trying to be clever but it annoys rather than conveys intelligence. Not sure overall if he is a fan or not but comes across as hyper critical. Finally he complains about the lyrics but as the book wears on, French seems to run out of steam and we have unwieldy lines such as 'it all happened much more quickly' and if he says well I was born in Sweden so English not my first language , then may I remind the same can be said of Abba!
