Adonis The Story Of A Black Vulture

Wow! What a powerful real-life story with gorgeous illustrations. Our 6 and 8 year old granddaughters were enthralled, especially with learning that Adonis is alive, well and happy in Hot Springs. Thank you to Jayne Lakhani, author and illustrator, for sharing his story with us last week while we were enjoying a most perfect evening at Luna Bella.

I bought the book after meeting the author while on vacation in Hot Springs, AR. She told us all about how she found the bird and nursed it back to health. After hearing her story of how she got the bird I had to buy the book. She is a very interesting person. It would make a great gift for a young child.

My family and I had the great fortune of meeting Jayne (the illustrator and writer) at The Pancake Shop in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Jayne is a wonderful person who immediately makes you feel like you have known her for years with her pleasant nature and enthralling stories of her life. This spirit is evident in Adonis: The Story of a Black Vulture. Light-hearted yet educational. The kids, 10 y/o to 3y/o, were wrapped and we have read the story a couple of times now. It is not a long book but the illustrations are fun and it is just right for bedtime. We know straight from the illustrators mouth that this is a true story. Thanks Jayne and thanks Wendy!

I'm from here and I had heard about Adonis and seen the book. I've also seen him in person! He lives in the same area he always has and you can bring food for him anytime and expect him to show up. He loves chicken!

This true story of a gracious lady and a grounded bird will inspire and motivate anyone to take a second look at themselves and their surroundings for the purpose of living life fully, no matter the obstacles! Jayne is a gifted storyteller and her illustrations are precious!
