Live, through the eras.
Box set arrived in good condition, CD's inside were well packaged and accessible.I am a massive Genesis fanatic, I own everything and have assuringly heard everything. I've occasionally scratched my head at the band's choices on a few of their compilations over the years. I'd glad to finally pick up this one. I have the two Archive sets from the late 90s - early aughts, the album remaster boxes with their included bonus discs, have heard various bootlegs, and even the compilation that accompanied the Last Domino? tour. The BBC box set is a joy to listen to. Some of the material is familiar, certainly, but there are new (to me) performances of many of the older tracks, and its nice to have polished, but still authentic, recordings of the Knebworth, Lyceum (Duke era), and Invisible Touch tours available. I do wish they could have kept Phil's banter on the Duke show, but at least the music is all there.Would have been nice to have had all the material available on the Vinyl edition as well, but its a choice that was likely made to keep the set affordable. I bought the CDs, and applaud the overall presentation. The included booklet is well done, not a lot new for a fan like me, but nicely put together all the same. The outer box is a basic top opener that is intended to resemble a road case; there is a ribbon to efficiently remove the CDs, which are housed in individual cardboard sleeves. The discs sit tightly in their sleeves and require some slight effort to remove, and I'd be concerned about scratching them with repeated use. The book sits on top of the recessed section that contains the CDs. The overall package is compact, roughly the size of a couple of standard blu-ray cases, and looks attractive on a shelf.A must buy? Perhaps not, and probably not the ideal introduction for new or casual fans, but a nice treat for longtime listeners to satisfy the itch for new content. There isn't much left out there we haven't heard, other than deep diving into Steve Hackett's and Anthony Phillips catalog, or Brand X at this point, but it's good to have this. A video rerelease of the full Lyceum show or HD/4K remaster of Shepparton or Mama at this point, maybe even the Womad reunion - get on it boys.

Good value, but not that much exciting and different.
I got this on sale for $35; which is definitely worth it. List price is $60 and it is common to see it for $45. I would think twice about buying this at the higher prices. Sound quality of this boxset is mostly good but some parts are not perfect or as good as other Genesis live albums.I think the best thing on this set are the couple of live tracks from the "new" Genesis that did not include Phil Collins. They are something completely different and refreshing. There isn't very much on this set that is "new". Some of this has been released before but most of it is previously unreleased recordings of concerts broadcasted by the BBC. But even though none of it was released before, little of it sounds new or refreshing.Genesis is a great band to see in concert, and they play most of their songs in different and fun ways when playing live. But, they are not a jam band. For any particular concert tour, the band will sound the same night after night during that tour, with little noticeable variations. The concert tours and songs covered by this boxset have already been represented on other Genesis live albums. So, listening to this, little popped out as new or interesting. It's good music but I have heard most of it before (and too much and as I generally overplayed them).Note that I did record the 1980 show off the radio. But, it was on a cassette tape and it is good to get a better sound version of that concert.

I am the one who guided you this far..." Y con razón. Altamente recomendable.

Good Value For A Genesis Fan
There isn't much I can say about this set that hasn't been said. Some die-hards are complaining about this set, but Genesis die-hards are kind of impossible anyways. Some say, "If you're a die-hard, it's not for you. If you're a casual fan then it's not for you." Well what does that mean? LOL.Is this a perfect box? Nope. Is it missing stuff? Yep. Nevertheless, I love this set...a LOT, so I don't know who they're talking to.I'm a Gabrielite for the most part, so I'm used to not getting what I want out of Tony Banks. That said, disks one, two and three are easily worth the purchase. For me, anything after Duke, I start to get really picky and snobby about what I want to hear so I'm very pleased with those three disks. If you like the later Wembley stuff and The Way We Walk stuff, there's some of that, too...plus, a couple of Ray Wilson cuts. I don't feel drowned by hits in this set either. One of my favourite things about this set is not only that I'm keen on at least more than half of it (as opposed to Archives 2 for example), but it's not weighed down by a bunch of "collectible" dust collecting junk that inflates the price to $200.00. It's 5 disks and a book and that's it. The only thing you have to save to put away and never look at again is possibly the hype sticker. That said, as a result, the price is totally reasonable for what Genesis is offering here. Get it before it's out of print.

Almost there....
Comes in a small box set similar to recent releases from Pink Floyd and David Gilmour.Comes with a small but detailed book. Only down side is that some of the wording is too close to the spine. But what most seem to be complaining about is that some of the shows aren't complete. Seems with Tony Banks decided to do this project, he decided not to include any duplicates. So the lengthier shows aren't full length. In some cases, not much more than 60 minutes. There was no reason to do that. 2 CDs are barely over 60 minutes and 2 mote clock in at around 73 minutes or so. Plenty of room to included most if not all the tracks [if not, add a 6th CD which most wouldn't of mind].Yes. Some of the earlier tracks do suffer in sound quality. However, there is only so much that could of been done to correct them. Some earlier tracks were left off because they were already on Archive #1 and #2.
