We’ve had this for about a day now, and so far so good. We chose this as an alternative to the Gabb phone, as we don’t have a need for a cell service, and didn’t want monthly bill. A lot of these reviews are negative about this device, but I think it comes down to expectations. There are reviews saying that the Amazon Music app wouldn’t load, I was able to put this app on the device with no problems following the instructions provided by the manufacturer through their website, and verified that it does work. I was also able to add several other apps that they don’t have listed on their website, but following the same method. There are complaints about not being able to use the Google play store on the device, and that is also explained through the g mee site. This is an open android device, meaning none of that software will load on the device at baseline. This is actually the reason I chose this device rather than it’s $20 more expensive counterpart which does have a more traditional android experience. I absolutely would buy this device again, it is closed, safe, and lockable. Another reviewer mentioned being able to bypass the lock feature, which I have tested, but was unable to replicate. The manufacturer seems to truly care about child safety with these devices.

Perfect way for kids to listen to Spotify without a phone!
I searched and researched for months to find a way for my tween kids to listen to Spotify (via wireless) on a device that was NOT a phone (no camera, no Appstore, no text/calls). I finally stumbled upon this little company out of Australia (G-mee) and I LOVE THIS PRODUCT.I have one for each of my kids. We use a Spotify family plan so they each have their own playlists and can explore music. The Play Lite device is easy to use and connects to wireless. I downloaded Spotify easily after charging the device up the first time. Via Spotify, songs can also be downloaded to listen to away from wireless (for example, in the car).I don't know why this company isn't a #1 bestseller at this point - it's like the best kept secret around, but shouldn't be a secret. Keep your kids off of smartphones, and let them access specific content in a safe way! I should note that the device does have a web browser but I used the "App Lock" feature to lock it, so my kids don't even know it's there. While we use it for Spotify, there are other options too- Amazon Music, or other specific apps (including for videos).I also had to contact customer support once to ask a question and the G-mee folks (out of Australia) are so helpful and responsive. It's worth its weight in gold, in my opinion! We LOVE our G-Mee Play Lites!

Exactly what we were looking for
I was really hesitant to get this bc of the bad reviews, but they all seem to be people expecting it to be more than it is. Got this for an 8 year old who wanted a portable music player that plays tidal. Followed the directions & installed the tidal & audible apks, they both worked fine. She can download music and books to play offline. No camera, no play store, which is exactly what we were looking for. Just a bare bones Android build. Isn't very loud but paired to a Bluetooth speaker just fine. Comes with a screen protector and a case. Has been dropped a ton of times, still kicking.

Does not run Amazon music as stated.
The device is handy and the parental controls are great. The purpose was to give my child a small portable for listening to Amazon music. It would not load or run no matter what I tried. Device is great for what it is. A small device that is not loaded with google crap. Just wish it would install Amazon as stated in description.

Don't waste your money on this devise! Outdated OS and Performance is trash! look elsewhere.
This devise is bad very bad, outdated OS and performance is trash. google store doesn't work and browsing the web is very slow. it's not even a very good media player ether SMH. The only reason I bought this device in the first place. Sure, you can install your own APK to it but there's a lot of compatibility issues with it. so, it's not even worth it in the end in my opinion. that's why I sent it back. look elsewhere, this is a HARD PASS.

App locking can be easily defeated
This works well enough in terms of being able to limit the apps on it and lock it down. The app locking app can be easily defeated by just closing the password prompt window over and over, after 3 times it just completely stops prompting for a password, which is unfortunate because otherwise this is exactly what I was looking for. Any kid who is even a little tech savvy is going to be able to figure out how to beat the password prompt within a day.
