Visible Dust EZ Sensor Cleaning Kit 4x VSWAB Series

Up to needing this product, I had no knowledge that I might ever even have to clean the sensor on my camera. However, after finding marks on my photos in the same place for some time I was prompted to investigate and it appears that you do indeed need to clean your sensor! A bit more investigation threw up the Visible Dust products as the ones to use, so I took the plunge. After a bit of trepidation over the process of cleaning the sensor, the process proved to be quite easy, helped by the videos on the Visible Dust website, and I now have no marks on my photos and, presumably, a clean sensor. The product was quite expensive for what you get - the vial of cleaning solution is very small, but since you are only supposed to use a couple of drops, I am sure it will probably last me the remaining swabs at the very least. For all those not sure whether to take the plunge and clean the sensor yourself rather than pay considerably more for a camera shop to do it for you, I am glad I decided to 'go it alone' using this kit

This works as stated and is a good product but I cannot for the life of me see where the price is set. I needed Eclipse cleaning fluid (as my sensor had oil on it) so I got these swabs. 4 swabs and a tiny amount of fluid. The Eclipse fluid was 10 times as large and cost £7, so I fail to see how each of these swabs cost over £3 each. However, they do the job well, just very overpriced.

It really worked for me! I was facing major difficulties after a botched DIY cleaning job (using a different swab/fluid brand) just before our annual holiday, left me too short of time to get my camera professionally cleaned. My sensor was covered in smears which the other system just would not clear despite several frustrating and time consuming attempts. In a last ditch effort to salvage the situation, I ordered the V Dust system from Amazon on a fast delivery and am absolutely delighted with the results. My camera's sensor was cleaned completely at the first quick attempt (such a contrast to the other system) and I am feeling extremely relieved. Watching a few of the numerous YouTube videos on the correct use of the product will help people who have not used it before, because the included instructions are a bit simplistic but it is absolutely not rocket science. In my opinion, this is a great product which worked perfectly for me first time and from now on I will keep some handy. Highly recommended.

Well, like many other people I was a little nervous about cleaning the sensor myself but it was easy and successful. I had 2 small marks showing on pictures. I have a Nikon D7000. One application removed them and test shots of clear blue sky showed clear with no smudges. The reason for 4 stars is that the instructions are rudimentary. However, if you go to the visible dust website they have detail and videos which are really helpful. It is a little tricky and you only need to touch the solution to each corner of the swab which then soaks up the small amount of the solution required and makes sure the swab is evenly soaked. Do not pour the solution on to the swab! Key tip - make sure you thoroughly clean the mirror chamber before you use the mirror up facility to then expose the sensor. This helps avoid getting more muck on your sensor before and particularly after the clean. Given that it worked I think the value is fine... it costs about £45 for one professional clean for example. Do not be tempted to reuse the swab. The solution is enough for 4 cleans. This product with Vdust Plus solution says it will deal with aqueous and maybe slightly oily spots (Orange swabs). There is another version of this pack with Vdust Smear Away solution which says it will deal with oily spots (Green swabs). The Vdust site says first use the Vdust plus and then if that does not work use the Vdust Smear away. I did buy the smear away too but as the plus worked I have not used it.

I'm writing this mostly because I had a bit of trepidation at the idea of cleaning my camera sensor after reading about some of the horror stories people experienced about various products, and I wanted to share my painless experience. I figured I had nothing to lose since you could grow potatoes in the dirt on my sensor so before a professional clean I thought I'd give it a go on the basis that I couldn't damage the sensor with the proper tools. Alas, one swab both sides was all that was needed and my sensor is immaculate. Tips: Do try a rocket blower first. I doubt it'll ever take all the dirt off a sensor, but if it takes just some of the loose particles off its less gunk for the swab to collect. The four swabs are individually wrapped. Unwrap them last and don't let them touch anything apart from the solution and the camera sensor. Open the solution bottle first, it's tightly closed! The package contains four swabs. Even with a sensor as filthy as mine I only needed one swab (both sides) to get it clean, so I think this package is enough for at least another clean or two. Put slightly less solution on the side of the swab you'll use second. That way you clean, then the slightly dryer side can absort some of the solution. I found the solution left a thin film on the sensor but it has dried streak-free. Don't bother with a loupe as some sites suggest. If you're sensor's dirty you don't need to confirm it with a loupe. Just pop the lens back on and take another test photo at f/22+ If the worst comes to the worst you won't damage the sensor (as long as you don't do anything daft) so if it doesn't work out you can arrange a professional clean, so it's worth a try.

You over-market the liquid, which is "half water, half alcohol", instead of giving it its chemical name. The swabs are nothing special. They are woven cloth, or polyfiber, or some other material, which is readily available in the market. Why would you price something assuming consumers are so dumb that to them you're giving them the next thing to sliced bread?I am disappointed. Sure the product does its job, NOT to the fullest, but it cleans the sensor, but seriously, your marketing approach? it builds hope and when the product gets delivered, you find 4 pieces of cheap plastic, a little bottle of solution and realize the whole shebang was just exaggerated marketing.

Goddam this's is expensive for a small 10 ml bottle of fluid and 4 plastic spoon looking things with some lint free cloth at the end. Sure it works, but I can't help feeling being totally ripped off. There is no justification for this type of pricing, so for me, I'll be sending my camera off for cleaning in future, at least that type of cleaning comes with a guarantee.

The sensor on my Nikon D7100 has needed cleaning for a while with a number of oil and dust spots, which whilst easy enough to remove in Lightroom, was getting to the stage when action was required. I must confess to having been rather nervous about undertaking the wet cleaning task, but I am pleased to say that after following a tutorial on a Youtube, it was very straightforward and much easier than I had expected. I now have a nice clean sensor with no visible oil or dust spots. I have 3 swabs left for future cleaning and would certainly recommend this product.
