Q: If necessary can the pieces be easily removed from wall without damage ?

Yes ; I had a mistake and removed and reapplied near.

Q: How does it attach to wall?

The map comes with a roll of double sided tape, which is tricky to peal off but does stick well and comes off the wall easily enough. We found we had just enough to complete the map.

Q: Is this suitable to have pins pushed into it?

Yes, it does. Each country has a hole where you can insert a pin. I would also like to add that the map is made of birch plywood and you can stick a pin anywhere.
