Price point is fair
I was a little hesitant at first when I opened the box and saw the diameter of the main pole. My first thoughts were it wasn't going to be sturdy enough. During assembly it went together smoothly. Aside from the main pole being a smaller diameter, it threaded together nicely and is sturdier than I thought it was going to be. For my situation I won't be moving it much so I expect it to last a long time. The hanging arm mechanism seems plenty strong for my application of hanging a heat lamp over my snakes enclosure.

Keeps our snake warm in the frosty weather
We needed a stand for a heat lamp over a small ReptileOne enclosure for a juvenile Stimson's python. The base fits nicely under the enclosure and hangs the light perfectly over the top. It turns smoothly to move aside for easy access through the top of the enclosure. We haven't needed to use the height extensions yet, but as the python grows and we need a bigger enclosure, I imagine we will. So far very happy with the product and the adjustability it provides.

Useful light duty item
This is a basic lamp stem&base w/ a slightly extendable arm. Not much to it & it won't hold up extremely weighty items (which is why I said, "light duty item"). If you only need to hold up a small, lightweight device then it's pretty great. It will also teach its user about center of gravity when used at its tallest if the user is not careful (skills with counter balancing are likely to prove useful since it will tip over quite easily at its tallest). I used pavers & clamps to secure it better while hoisting slightly heavier items, however it still won't support more than about 5.2 pounds very well. Mine holds up very light & small light fixtures & this item is perfect for my lightweight applications; so I have no complaints & also see nothing but value. The fact that it's height is easily adjustable really increases its versatility & usefulness. After I put my originally ordered stand to good use, I ordered another one because the 1st one proved so useful. But it's still basic, tipsy & certainly not electrified at all; just a stand & scissoring swing arm.

Looks great and excellent quality for the price!
Really happy with this purchase! Great value for money, sturdy and looks great.Odd that everything is jet black, but cable management is baby blue, but otherwise I would highly recommend.

A bit unsteady if assembled at the max height
Using for my turtle's tank in the middle of a room. I have the bottom of the light stand under the aquarium's stand itself, but as it was too wobbly/unsteady due to the height and weight at the top, I had to sort of wedge it between the couch and the stand for stability. I still feel uneasy about it falling sideways when I adjust the arm or turn the lights on/off, however. Otherwise, the stand is very sturdy, and the adjustable arm especially is very firm. The only other minor complaint I have is the winch that secures the actual hook at the end of the arm. It is either winched firmly in position, or the hook completely falls off the arm. There is no in-between, where you can adjust the angle of the hook while it is still attached. This means I often need to remove the lights entirely from the stand if I want to adjust it into a particular position.Once everything is in place and if nothing needs adjusting, this stand works perfectly as intended, and looks good doing it. The price is great for the product, and it was easy to assemble with no hardware needed.
