Best at the price: a foam-based skimmer, which is best.
Best skimmer short of the really spendy ones: it pulls dark skimmate and is a foam-type skimmer like the big spendy ones. The motor is replaceable and nothing else on it can wear out, since this has replaced the wheel with a more efficient and wear-free design. I replaced my 10-year-old model to get this newer, still more efficient model.
