Brilliant New Updated Version of The Professionals
As a late teenager and early twenty something I loved the original series when it first came out in seventies.I had never seen The New Professionals and came across the box set of thirteen episodes only a few weeks ago and so I bought it. Well I was not disappointed; in fact I thoroughly enjoyed every episode and I am amazed that no more episodes were produced. Edward Woodward was as one would expect superb as the new boss, the two guys played off each other really well and as for Lexa Doig - who played the forth member of the main characters - well she was gorgeous. The stories were excellent with many episodes actually shot abroad. There was more modern tech than the original and it was fast moving and exciting. Highly recommend it.

Best series than the original
I bought the CI5 The New Professionals because I started to watch the series on Prime Video and I love the series better than the original The Professionals with Body and Doyle which still keeps it attraction. Would recommend

Get to see the UNEDITED versions of all the episodes
Despite the criticisms aimed at this revamp of the original Professionals TV series, it wasn't that bad at all. I think David Wickes Television made a cracking little series here that was well above average for its time (1998/99) as much of British television descended into the abyss of reality tv rubbish, wanna-be singing star bore-fests, real cops chasing after mentally deficient joyriders, young Brits holidaying abroad making total prats of themselves in public with spectacles of alcohol induced vomiting and the expulsion of other bodily fluids (demonstrating to the entire world why the word "Great" can no longer be conjoined with the word "Britain"), and endless medical dramas and shows with angst-ridden detectives with disintegrating family lives getting in the way of good old fashioned action based plots. "The New Professionals" was rare at the time of being broadcast as a series which did attempt to be the British made "good old fashioned action series" which everyone older than the age of 35 remembers once graced our airwaves.Despite the effort put into the series by its producers (with very little funding or backing from UK channels), ITV shamefully ignored it altogether, leaving Sky1 to pick it up. However, Sky butchered up to 10 minutes out of each 45 minute episode to make way for extra adverts, often removing so much of the plot that viewers could be left wondering what happened to whom by the time the credits rolled. Unfortunately, its more recent airings on Men&Movies Channel has been similarly butchered, but to remove every bullet impact or suggested violence to the extent that they were screening an action/adventure series with all the actual "action" cut out of it. The heroes would run into a scene with guns blazing -- CUT -- to bodies everywhere and the battle over, with several minutes of footage on the cutting room floor. So here - finally - you can now get your hands on the series as it was originally made and intended to be seen. All the guts, gore and violence left in place so that the word "action" can truly be used to describe it. When you get your copy, don't be put off by the fact the cover says it is region 4 (Australia) as the disks work perfectly well on every region 2 dvd player in our house (as the manufacturers claimed they would). And Lexa Doig is gorgeous in whatever she appears in!! I'd far rather watch her than wanna-be singers slugging it out on X Factor or wanna-be stars bitchily backstabbing each other on Big Brother and its ilk.

The Forgotten Professionals of the 90's almost as good as Bodie and Doyle
I watched reruns of CI5 the Professionals (70's) on TV liked them so much I bought the box set I only learned of this later and I think it's a shame that it's not as well known as the earlier series. It deserved more love and I urge you too watch these meager amount of episodes of a sequel series done right unjustly canceled before it's time.

The New Professionals - Very Professional
I thoroughly enjoyed the original series and this up-dated series is a worthy successor. At the end of Episode 1, there is a tribute to the original. It is riveting viewing from start to finish. A must for all Edward Woodward fans and for those who enjoy an action-packed series.

Don't belive the reviews
This must be the most overated TV series to go to DVD ever. lt is like it was made for American afternoon veiwing. Probably a much bigger buget than the original series but in my opinion it is very poor compared to the original series. Edward Woodward hopefully got paid well to star in this rubbish, what a comedown from his Callan series. After first episode l had to watch the rest of the discs speeded up to not waste toooo much of my time! It certainly won't be going into my DVD collection. The only positive it that l managed to buy it on eBay for a low price!

Resolution not set
This a good series starring the Late Edward Woodward. However Network did a poor job of putting this on to DVD as they never set the resolution which i had to adjust myself i gave them one star for the poor effort of the transfer.
