Hardcastle 4ft Solid Steel 1" Barbell Weight Bar

I have purchased a few barbells in the recent months and this compact size is by far the best made and well priced of the three, a lot of barbells these days come with a new style spinlock collar that are very poorly cast with poorly centered holes and about 1/3 less in size, this is not the case with this one, this has the old style full size spinlocks that are very well cast and can be spun up the bar with a flick of the wrist. I have seen a few reviews that mention the collars coming loose, I learnt a trick that helps minimize this from an old lifter, tighten the collars up in the usual fashion, then with the bar horizontal in front of you grab both weight stacks one in each hand and pull the left one towards you at the same times as pushing the right one away from you, this really locks the collars in place, reverse this procedure to loosen, works at treat! You won't get a better bar at this price.

For the price, this is very good. It's solid, and the length means I can safely lift in my box room without smashing any windows. I've used it multiple times a week for about six months now, and there are no signs of wear or damage at all. That said, I would not recommend this for somebody who is looking to start powerlifting. It's a baby-sized bar which is ideal for smaller people, small rooms, beginners and those intending to lift casually. I'm not sure whether it would fit into some racks, so you need to consider that. If you want to become a strongman, invest in a proper olympic barbell which you won't have to replace as you progress. Otherwise, this is brilliant for the money, and would allow an absolute beginner who couldn't yet handle a 45lb barbell to get started. The one minor annoyance is the clips, which tend to come loose during lifts. I've never had one fall off, but it is distracting. I usually use another set which fit better instead.

As other's said, the bar itself is well made, solid and grip is good, though a bit rough without gloves. It came with a layer of grease which was easy to wipe off. The biggest issue is that the spinlock collars do come loose. Had to buy replacement so that this in consideration and add to the price. Another negative is that my 1" York spinlock collars don't work with the bar. It seems like the bar itself is just over 1"? Still a good buy but be aware of the above

So first, don't expect to be lifting this like some sort of olympic weight, its only 4ft wide. If you are wanting to bench press buy a 7ft olympic bar. This is good for just simple home training, i would put this bar more into the "bar curl" category. Using this bar for bench training isnt good because its so short, but has high weight, so there is alot of things you can do with it. Overall construction and quality is amazing, it feels sturdy, i've loaded it upto 80KG and had no issues with the bar bending or anything.

Compared to other similar priced products this is really good quality. The spinners are heavy and secure well to lock the weights tightly into place. If you are looking for a nice compact bar this is the one to get!

For the price i was able to get amazing daily workouts for it

Just what i wanted. Complete with weight retaining nuts. Chrome looks good and milled grip is finished well. Seller packed it extremely well in rigid cardboard tube. Careful when opening.. There are sharp retaining staples keeping end caps in place.

This is a solid piece of steel, and it weights 5kg on its own. Very happy with it, as it fits pro-iron weights perfectly. It does come with the clamps, but it lacks additional rubber seals for the other end, so the weights tend to rotate during workout on their own, and unscrew the clamp - not a big deal as you have to check the equipment before any workout, but something to keep in mind. It came all covered in wd40 or another kerosene based lubricant, so don't open it without gloves or it will stay on your skin for couple of days.
