War Eagle Mill Rye Flour, Organic and non-GMO (2 lbs)

I needed a recipe that was super easy. I found one on youtube that uses two cups of rye flour with one cup of white flour, cocoa, molasses, water, salt and two seasonings. You mix it up in a bowl, and let sit covered for twelve hours. Bake in cast iron dutch oven next day using parchment paper under bread. Made a nice sized round loaf that was crusty, and perfect, old world texture inside. This is a definite keeper. Very pleased with our purchase. I highly recommend it. NO bugs. Came in a sealed, heavy duty bag that reseals easily.

Rye flour is much more expensive than all-purpose or whole wheat flour, but a little goes a long way in enhancing the flavor of the breads I make. Even in a 1 to 10 ratio of rye to all-purpose flour, there's a notably pleasant shift to a more earthy complex flavor. Excellent packaging of the War Eagle Rye so that you can use a little and confidently store the rest for later consumption.

Nice fresh Rye flour in a 2 lb package size that fits in with my 3 other flours. And NO Bugs :) Best-buy-date is one year away. I was concerned by another review where they unfortunately had some bugs in the box. No bugs now, just nice Rye flour in a tightly sealed bag with no chance of anything getting in. I’ve been baking for 40 years and all you have to do if you get bugs in your flour, is freeze it to kill the bugs, then spoon out the top layer of flour and bake with the rest.

I'd never made rye bread before so I did a little research. Rye flour is made in 3 versions: light, medium & dark. I assumed that dark rye flour was for making pumpernickle-style flour, so I ordered War Eagle Mill Rye Flour because it's a medium rye. It didn't have a strong rye flavor, but it was still delicious! The aroma was fantastic. I shared the bread with 2 friends and they loved it. I added caraway seeds. The bread was moist. My mouth is watering from talking about it. You'll like this flour. I'm going to find some dark rye flour and mix it with this medium rye flour.

I make rye/oat bread in a Zojirushi bread maker (2 cups rye flour, 1 cup white flour, 1 cup oat flour). When I couldn't find any Bob's Red Mill rye, I tried another rye brand from Amazon and the bread turned out gummy. This War Eagle rye flour makes really good bread, not gummy at all. Great texture, toasts well. Actually, better than Bob's Red Mill.

Excellent! Worked quickly to get my sourdough starter going. I live in NC and we are just entering fall in the mountains. The temp dropped and my whole wheat starters suffered. Not this time. Rye flour is the way to go, when making starter. This brand is a bit expensive, but worth it because there is no waste.

We seem to live in a food desert because no grocery store in our area carries Rye flour! Some didn't even know what it was. We try to shop local, but sadly, it was their loss. He made a delicious Boston Brown Bread using this War Eagle Mill Rye Flour, Organic and non-GMO (2 lbs) and we will certainly know where to go for more!
