Rachmaninoff: Piano Concerto No. 2 In C Minor, Op. 18 & Piano Concerto No. 3 In D Minor, Op. 30

I must confess that I have not heard this lady play live, but only on youtube. I had listened to her Chopin second sonata which was disappointing, both from a timing and phrasing perspective, although better in the introspective passages she pulled the piece about far too much. . I bought this disc just to see what she was like in better sound and in a romantic concerto. I was very impressed. Her playing has that fearlessness of youth and very clear articulation between left and right hand. She was excellent rhythmically and the balance between piano and orchestra is perfect. Her tempi were just right, forward moving but not rushed. I felt the Czech Phil were not first rate. Good as this disc is it does not eclipse the great Argerich recording of the 3rd concerto on Phillips.

This young lady never fails to please,exceptional talent. It was 5 star really but I thought I had ordered a DVD.which enhancesher performances as a virtuoso. If I did NOT then apologies,if I did then shame on you Amazon. However. labeling needs to bemuch clearer.

Khatia B. Is up there with the very best.After seeing her perform at RFH, this fantastic recording brings a further endorsement to her depth of playing and unique stage presence. Wonderful stuff

I think that Khatia Buniatishvili interpretation of the two concert is a profound lecture of the Rachmaninov soul and musical language. I enjoyed every moment of the two concerts!

Brilliant performances, beautifully played. And no pointless DVD included!!Buy it. Her playing will both uplift the soul and reduce you to tears.

A realy enjoyable recording. As well as the brilliant piano playing , one could hear the full orchestra at work.
