Works in addition to the roof vents.
I did not feel there was sufficient air flow through the roof vents. After 9 years the AC in my RV went bad. I believe it was in part due to insufficient air flow. I added this to increase the flow of air. The unit cooler better. I had this type of grill in the living room and it is still running and it is the unit I leave on all summer when we are not at the RV. I leave the thermostat set at 89 degrees.

Not improved, poor quality
The grill inserts and main mold colors do not match it is an off white yellow and looks cheap or dirty. It is also not more quiet than the original Dometic duo therm vents.

Better looking than the old design and quiter too
Better all around than the old design. Easier to clean and quiet with better airflow. Just swap out the plastic piece.
