Wanted to replaced 10+ year old Krups electric kettle.
UPDATE April 2025: 5 stars for customer service. They said the rust spots are from my water, and they recommend I descale the kettle with vinegar more frequently. I strongly recommend you use distilled water with it if you can. I don't know why I never tasted rust and never found rust spots in my older stainless steel + plastic Krups electric kettle. Maybe our tap water got more iron in it. If you have a problem, definitely contact Krups directly and don't put a low review on amazon. Customer service has now repaired or replaced it four times, even from France, and they say that the rust spots, rust taste, etc are due entirely to the minerals in my water. This last time, it is a brand new kettle. I always use a Brita filter pitcher, and I never had this problem with the old Krups stainless steel + plastic kettle (that one lasted over 10 years, maybe over 15 years, until it leaked from the plastic window). And I wasn't even using a Brita filter most of that time. I endured the weird smells coming off the materials at first. In the last kettle I had, I can see the rust spots on the inside bottom of the february replacement, and I can smell rust in the boiled water. Why can't someone make an electric kettle out of glass and/or stainless steel without glue, silicone, and a weird seam? I didn't need the LED to be incorporated into the kettle, and yet we see this design all over amazon. UPDATE February 2025: This did not go as smoothly as with the old kettle, but I have a good kettle now. About a year of light use after I got this kettle, it started leaking. Aramis at Krups sent a prepaid label, and I shipped the kettle to a small appliance repair person in the region. It returned smelling a little funny, but after boiling a few kettles of water, I was able to use it, and it worked well. This year (2025) I saw brown rust spots on the inside at the edge (not white scale). I contacted Krups customer service, and I said I wanted a new kettle. Aramis promptly had a new kettle shipped from France! I received it yesterday, and it seems to be working well and doesn't smell funny at all. Great warranty service. February 2025. Previous review: Wow, my last Krups electric kettle lasted well over 10 years - I lost track. It was used daily but only by 1 person in the home. That one was a mixture of stainless steel (exterior and interior) and plastic. It had a window on each side of plastic that showed the water level, and on one side it finall failed & leaked. I've had this a few days - good enough so far. I was glad to find an electric kettle where the body is mostly glass. I like how Krups says they will repair items, too. I wish I could find one made in the US. Pros: - Heats water quickly - I didn't buy it for LED lighted water, tho thru the glass, it turned out to be fun to watch - Sturdy grounded plug (old one was not) - Switch and lid release work well - Water tastes good - Good pouring Cons: - Plastic smell for days. I used more than 3 fills of water to mostly get rid of it. I don't taste it in the water now; it's a faint smell. I recommend using the 2 teaspoons of baking soda sooner rather than later. If you see "pitting" in the bottom following baking soda, follow up with a bit of vinegar standing in there a while, and those will disappear. You might leave it full of water and sitting out overnight (not heating obviously). - The little filter had no instructions on how to remove it. I gently pried it out with my fingernail.

Efficient tea kettle
I love this glass tea kettle. I had to replace my old Krups electric kettle and I like this one more since it’s glass. Heats quickly.

I am so glad I I bought this for boiling water for my tea and coffee
I really, really love this product for my kitchen. I can put the water in turn it on it boils and turns itself off. You don’t have to worry about a whistle going off. You don’t have to worry about turning off your stove. It is just wonderful and I don’t like many gadgets for the kitchen

Pretty good kettle.
Other reviews have mentioned the lid failing over time, so I like to fill my kettle through the pour spout to avoid repeated opening and closing of the lid. Unfortunately, the spout is very small on this kettle, so water inevitably runs down the outside as it is filled. This wouldn't normally be a problem, but on this kettle, the water collects inside the metal around the base of the kettle and after the kettle boils, this (now boiling hot) water flows out of the base and onto your counter. If I fill the kettle very slowly through the spout, or open the lid to fill it and don't turn on the water until the kettle is under the faucet so that no water runs down the outside, then there are no leaks while pouring. Otherwise, this is a good kettle that boils quickly and shuts itself off as designed. I did boil and discard the first 3 kettles of water and have not experienced any plastic-y or off taste or odor.

Simple kettle
Exactly what I was looking for, one simple button. Manually push down to start, automatically jumps up when water reaches boiling point and turns off. No bunch of gagets and multiple temperature settings. To me, it's just water, few degrees will not burn it like it is with food. Got the basic glass version (not cool touch), I can see exactly how much is left in the kettle. Straight body design looks slick and made cleaning easy. I have expensive stove top kettles, i often forget to turn off the stove, the kind with the whistle requires immediate attention to stop the noise. This solved my problems.

The best I had, boils fast, nice looking kettle
Over the years, I've owned a Presto electric kettle and never changed it because it did its work. However, I realized it was time to change for a better one, it was not lasting and the cord and base had issues. The differences were mainly materials used, ease of cleaning, and longevity. The kettle's design is very attractive, I love the LED light and how you can see the water boiling. Easy to operate and heats the water quickly and it has a convenient automatic shutoff, which my presto did not have. I already descale it with vinegar and it was clean as new. To replace it, I searched quite a bit, checking out new designs and features and was drawn to this Krups kettle. In no time, I realized I'd made an excellent choice. I recommend it!

Best thing I have bought for the kitchen in a long time
I love this. It's perfect. I ditched the coffee pots that take up to much room. I use this for coffee, tea, and oatmeal. It boils fast and shuts off automatically. The only negative is that the lid doesn't lift all the way but still easy enough to work with while filling the pot up.

Little pricy but as they say " you get what you Pay for" I had a KRUPS that worked for 15 years:) then I got tired & so I ordered a newer more modern Kettle. I just love my new Kettle making tea.
