I get through a lot of timber screws building Oak porches, and I can tell you that these are excellent. With the razor tip, no pilot hole is required. There is one thing to be aware of and that is if you ever need to remove or undo a bolt, they screw in so tight that most cordless drills simply do not have the required torque required to back them out, and will quickly drain any battery. I’ve used DeWalt and Makita cordless drills and they can’t hack it. The only way to remove them is to use a 8mm socket and wrench and do it manually. Another benefit of of these is that the 4” screws are not 4” but 3.75”, which means that when I’m bolting up 2” timbers together, they don’t bust through the other side.
