**Q: does a pad have to be used with this?**
A: Yes. We had it sitting on the wood floor and the area around the humidifier was wet. It is now on a dresser on a waterproof pad and works fine.

**Q: How large is the water fill opening?**
A: Water fill opening is about 3.75"

**Q: can I use Vicks Vapo Steam liquid in the water in this unit?**
A: We will be happy to provide that information. You cannot use the Vicks VapoSteam in this unit, as it can damage the unit. That is made for use in only in Vaporizers, and in the medicine cups of Warm mist humidifiers and humidifiers with heated medicine cups. Small but will run all day without needing a refill. It’s easy to clean, and the mist is adjustable. I like Vick’s and have had this brand in the past, so I was confident it would be of good quality. I came down with a cold the same day it was delivered, and it’s been really helpful! Outside it’s in the 20’s so the forced air heat inside is very drying. This humidifier works well for a bedroom and the size is perfect for the top of a desk or bureau. It runs for about 12 hours if set just below high. We set it in a pan and then put the pan on the bureau just in case it might leak, but we've had no problems. It does not have an automatic shut-off, but we turn it on a half hour before we go to bed and turn it off after we're up. It is easy to fill and is a good choice for the money and space. We will only use it in very cold winter months.

I’ve had this for 4-6 weeks and we absolutely love it. It is perfect for our smaller size bedroom. I empty it, wipe it out, and then air dry it daily. I also only use distilled water in it, and use fresh water every time I use it. Every weekend I clean it with bleach as directed in the manual. I don’t know why some people say it’s loud, ours is very quiet. If you’re willing to keep it clean and follow the instructions it works great. I highly recommend it.
