Starting these vinyl records (the album collection), I am in love with the cello instrument, at the evening I am listening to this album, so an enjoyable sound.

Snapped this up at a bargain price as a warehouse deal, but arrived still shrink wrapped.Just listened to the Elgar Cello concerto and sound quality is is very good but marred slightly by lots of clicks and pops on that and the Sea Pictures side. No obvious marks on the record. So deducting 1 star for that. I'd return but at £35 I might just live with the background noise.In my experience of vinyl over the past few years, if you want noise free then you need to pay the hefty prices of the audiophile pressings. The major labels just seem to produce inferior pressings even if they are 180 gram vinyl.But I'm being picky. I have most of her recordings on CD and this is the first time I've had the chance to listen on vinyl. Looking forward to listening to the other recordings over the next few days. And nice reproduction of the front of the sleeves.UPDATE: I've now listened to the other recordings and only the Elgar is marred by noise. All the others are very quiet. Luck of the draw as the Elgar is the one recording I prize over everything else she recorded.

Excellent re-issues even though recorded from the digital domain. Still sound better than CDs on a decent record player with decent ancillaries. Which makes sense as the record companies D/A is probably better than your averagedomestic version.

Good collection but disappointed that the box had been damaged in transit and at least one LP isn’t flat (to the point you can see the undulation as it turns from across the room)

Well, this set is nicely presented and reasonably priced. Unfortunately it has been through digital mastering, which makes it a doubtful purchase for those who prefer to listen to analogue recordings. I didn't realize that when I ordered the set. Superb stuff, obviously, but what a pity. Caveat emptor.

Fabulous set. Fabulous sound. In the opening of the Elgar, her cello seems to fly out of the speakers as well as the sound-waves! Have got an early EMI original which is so well known.... This re-press makes Ms du Pre come alive...to live, breathe and express passion again....

Beautiful box set bought for my wife who was a cellist. I'm not a great classical music fan but even I have to admit the music on these albums is exquisite.

A Christmas present from my wife. Just magic.
