I started them in fresh logs, sealed with wax, and set aside on our property. This is their second fall season and half of the logs are fruiting shiitake. Just did what the instructions said nothing. Waisted of my money and time. 000000 stars ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very little mycelium on the plug *by S***H on April 20, 2023* Edit: After doing a bit of research, I found that the amount of mycelium on the plug doesn't really matter as long as there is some in the spiral on the dowels. With that said, these have enough from what I understand. I also found out that the seed is something for the fungus to use as a food source and I didn't realize that before. I am going to be plugging some longs with these soon. I made 5 large longs over the weekend with a different batch that I had purchased and will plug shorter logs with these! Updated from 2 star to 4 star. Sorry my ignorance had me leaving a crap rating. Original: Hopefully these workout well. I bought similar plugs for shiitake mushrooms and those plugs came full with mycelium. These seem to have bird seed inside the pack with very little mycelium. I'll pop it in the fridge for a little while and see if the mycelium takes better.
