At first it felt too snug to me so I ordered a 27 to compare. The 27s had a strange pointy spot in the middle of the seat of the pants no matter how I adjusted them, so I would say they were slightly too big although they were comfortable. Knowing these will stretch out some with wear and they're not 100% cotton, I'm going with the 26's. They are super comfortable and not too tight, but they are form-fitting and flattering which is exactly what I wanted. I can still pinch a small amount of fabric in the hips and seat area. If I squat down, nothing shows that shouldnt be. I got the regular length which wasn't an issue with shoes on, being shorter that surprised me. I purchased these when they were in the $40 range which would have been 5 stars but because they have gone up to almost $80, The flaws not longer get a pass. Neither Good Nor Bad: Mid rise - not low. These come about two fingers below my belly button, rather than a two finger length zipper for a true low rise. Good: Perfect everyday wash Perfect Cut - boot cut without being flare, slim enough without being straight, you can wear with boots or sneakers Flattering on the tush )really everywhere) Bad: No stretch - unless you wear them all week Extra fabric to the left of the zipper? - If you like your jeans tight you will notice what looks like an uncomfy front without feeling uncomfy.
