As though a serial killer, Satanists, neo-Nazis, massive drug trafficking were not enough! Re-enter his predecessor Lucas Hood - he looking like a tramp, so traumatized was he by the finale of Season 3. Will he still have an important part to play in ridding Banshee of its undesirables?You bet he will. There has been a shock start - Proctor's niece Rebecca discovered with her heart cut out. This final season takes the form of a whodunnit with revealing flashbacks, eventual unmasking of the culprit likely to surprise.The series remains uncompromising, with violence in plenty. Throughout the great worry is that some of the more likeable characters may perish: Lucas himself (he with that great secret); formidable Carrie (not to be underestimated); Kurt (his life in the balance for daring to quit the Nazis and join the police); Sugar (ever wise and dispensing free drinks, his bar always so curiously empty). What too of Job (charismatic and very funny) - did he really die?Eight episodes - two with commentaries, all with interesting background features. For obvious reasons,the Disc 1 Season 3 recap is best seen first of all. Ditto the "Banshee Origins", which may intrigue. Disc 4 contains bonuses on favourite fights (so many from which to choose) and on Job's wardrobe.Overall? A raw, savage series. Season 1 proved too much for me, but I persevered and steadily became climatized - unashamedly cheering when certain characters at long last got their comeuppance. Yes, in this final series it mattered a lot who would perish and who would survive. Many fans will emerge well pleased. For me, just one reservation.
