L9 Lightener Plus

I used this product to lighten my hair in order to dye it a vivid purple. My starting colour was a medium brown (as shown in picture 1). I did 2 different bleaching sessions (1 week apart) and I used 2 boxes of lightener per session. I needed to use 2 boxes due to the length of my hair, there was a little left over so if your hair is longer than mine, then 2 should still suffice. If you have shorter hair than mine, you could get away with only using 1 box. Picture 2 is the colour of my hair after the first session, picture 3 is the colour after the second session. The application process was really easy and simple, the steps were explicit and everything was labeled clearly. The bleach isn't messy and applies easily. I put a plastic shower cap over my hair to help it process, but be warned your hair/head will heat up during the bleaching process and it does feel hot to the touch. My only, minor criticisms of the lightener is that it is very strong to the point that my eyes watered a bit when I got it too close. Apart from that I absolutely adored this lightener and the process. Obviously, the hair does come out dry, but this lightener includes a purple toner to help neutralize any brassy tones and a conditioner to help repair the hair. I loved the blonde colour that resulted from the first bleaching session and the only reason that I did a second one was because I wanted the whitest base possible for applying my purple dye over. If I was staying blonde then I would have happily stopped after the first lightening process. My only word of caution should be to remember to use an old towel that you don't really care about, my trusty 'dye-towel' was transformed from a light blue to an almost white due to using it to towel dry my hair between conditioner applications. But this could probably have been avoided if I had spent longer rinsing my hair each time. I highly recommend this lightener and it is now my favourite of all hair lightening products that I have ever used. The value for money is amazing and the results are exactly what I was looking for. This is now going to be my default lightener for future.

I have been box dying my hair black for many years and fancied a warm change in time for summer.. bought two boxes (I have long hair) of the L9 lightener and I'm not going to lie I didn't expect much but I was pleasantly surprised how quickly it lifted the black and turned into an interesting copper colour..... I'd say it would take another 2 or 3 attempts at using the Lightener if you were planning to go proper blonde (and some serious toner/shampoo to tame that brass) but if you're like me and fancy a slight change then doing this the once would suffice. I'm no professional by any means so my results are patchy but hopefully shouldn't matter too much. (Try to avoid hot roots as that really affects your results) The lightener didn't damage my hair as badly as other products have done in the past. Normally I'd get a straw like feeling to my hair once dyed but this was pretty good. Because I used two boxes, I used both the hair masks and left in for 15 mins before rinsing and my hair feels quite nice.

I was bleaching my hair from a light brown colour hoping to get it light enough to be able to dye it pastel colours. Although it did bleach my hair pretty well, some parts were lighter than others and you definitely need purple shampoo to get rid of brassy tones. Also, its worth noting that although my hair isnt very thick and it is above my shoulders and I could have done with a bit more product. For the price, this product is great, however you'll probably need two boxes unless you're touching up your roots and it's probably a good idea to leave it on for the full time. Make sure you do your roots about 15/20 mins after your ends so you don't end up with different coloured roots as the heat from your scalp bleaches them faster than the lengths and ends of your hair.

Love this lightener but I really should have left it on for 60 minutes not 45 minutes (my fault, I got scared). My hair did go a bit orange but I’ve used Fanola no orange shampoo which has reduced it to a yellow colour. I will now apply Fanola no yellow which I am sure will tone it to a nice icey blonde! The conditioning treatments are lovely!

I bought one, based on the product advising 2 are required for anything below chin-length hair. My hair is a bit below chin length but very thin, so I assumed it would be enough. It really wasn't and I ended up with very patchy results after applying 1 bottle. I had to buy a second box (and wait a week for delivery) to even it out. Once I had done both boxes, it looked much better. My hair is naturally very dark and it really did lighten my hair a lot with the 2 applications. It is more orange than I would like if I were trying to go blonde, but I am going to put another colour over it now it is lightened, so it is fine for that. I have added pics of my hair before and after the 2 boxes

So this works quite well if you want to use it as a base to dye your dark hair a vibrant colour. I have dark brown hair and wanted to dye my hair a vibrant colour. I wanted something easy to use that would lighten my hair so I could get as much of the colour as I could. I applied this by following the instructions, which are really easy to understand, left it the recommended time and turned into Tormund Giantsbane. Yes, I also used it on my beard which isn't something I'd recommend as the fumes of the bleach then have easy access to your olfactory system! Overall I was very happy with the results, which garnered many laughs from my family. Needless to say I didn't leave the house in this state. You can see the results this had when I then subsequently dyed my hair and became the Grinch!
