The Tickle Book

Slightly disappointed
Bought this because we LOVED the bedtime bear. A little disappointed that there is only one flap per page unlike our old Bedtime bear which had 3 interactive flaps, wheels, pull tabs per page. And the story doesn't flow as smoothly, but my son enjoyed seeing the same characters as in his favorite book. If you enjoy this book, and don't already have it, i highly recommend The Bedtime Bear!!!

Ok book, but shouldn’t be advertised as a lift the flap book
It’s an ok board book. The illustrations are really nice and the fact that every two pages you are in a completely different scenario makes up for the pretty poor storyline. The most disappointing part for me was that I bought it mainly because my son is into lift the flap books right now, but here all you can find is one small and flimsy flap every two pages.

Fun lift the flap book!
My 18 month old daughter loves this book. Met the author once and he is gifted. A fun bedtime book she looks forward to reading together.

It's a great book but beware you will wear it out
I was given this book when I had my son, now I bought a copy for my granddaughter. It's a great book but beware you will wear it out, not from poor quality but from over usage. My granddaughter has to have it read to her at least 5 times a night as did my son. It's a very fun, interactive book.

A Fun Book for Everyone!
This book is wonderful. My little boy, 2 1/2, has loved it from the first time his Nana read it to him. It is very interactive, with a lot of stuff to keep a child entertained. He always finds something funny about it, even though he has the story memorized by now. He loves it so much that I ordered a copy to keep at home as well!

Tickles and laughter all round ... a brilliant book and firm family favourite
My little grandson has adored this amazing book since I got it for his 2nd birthday. I wasn’t sure about it to start with as the recommended age range is 3 to 6, but I had no need to worry. As soon as he got the hang of what happens every time you find the tickle monster, this has been his go-to choice every time I suggest reading a story together. And he’s not the only one who has fun: my heart bursts with joy at the look of anticipation on his wee face every time he peels back a flap - he’ll start squealing even before the tickling starts! Recently, he’s started getting me to lift the flaps so that he can be the one doing the tickling!Of course, the book isn’t just about tickles. The beautiful illustrations are quite detailed and can provide the basis for some interesting conversations as your little one’s vocabulary develops. Each spread features different settings, such as the station, the farm, the zoo, the picnic, and bedtime. And there are a lot of interactive elements too (Knock on a door! Pick a monkey! What do the animals say? etc). Plus everything rhymes - now aged 2.5 my little fella loves to shout out the word that completes each one! It’s very important that a heavily used book like this can stand up to the constant handling, and this definitely does. The cover is a good sturdy hardback and the inside pages are of good quality board. Even the flaps are pretty much tear proof, which is a real bonus, especially when younger siblings are around. Thanks for reading my review. I hope you found it helpful. Amazing book BUT - disappointed in the changes
Before I start this review I want to make on thing clear. The story and the writer are top class. I love all of his books. However this is a review of the latest edition ..... not so greatWe bought this book to replace the original and I think you will see some very bad changes to the bookFor a start it smaller (See images)Also they have removed a lot of the interactive elements that make this book so amazing. If you look at the pictures you can see that most of the tabs and flaps have been removed. I expect this was done for quality control purposes and to save costs .... however it really does take away from the enjoyment of the book. There is nothing better than that moment when you pull the tab and your child sees the tickle monster. Sadly that has all been taken away.In terms of overall here are my viewsWriter 10/10Story 10/10New version of book 6/10Old version of book 10/10Colour and illustration 10/10All in all this is a wonderful story from a great children's writer. However sadly the latest version of the book is not that great.I would totally recommend the series of books to all parents. They are so much fun.

My Son's Favourite Book
Without a doubt, my sons favourite book. He is 15 months old and has two shelves of books, but this is the one he chooses time and time again. I literally read it about 20 times in the day and his other books might get 1 or 2 reads (my boy is book obsessed at the moment). When we first got it I didn't think it was anything special, it's a nice enough book, but didn't think it was particularly appealing. However since my boy has brought it time and time again I've grown to love it too. The flaps used to be quite discreet so hard for littleuns to find at first, but that adds to the fun of finding the Tickle Monster (ours stick out now after loads of opening). He quickly learnt where the Tickle Monster hides and goes for him straight away when turning the page to get another tickle. There isn't much story, but we make our own fun instead. There are lots of lovely animals to identify, count and make the noise of, and of course finding the Tickle Monster. My sons little face when he finds the Tickle Monster and knows he's going to get a tickle is priceless and worth 5 stars in itself. :)

The Author Ian Whybrow Really Knows His Audience.
I bought this bright cheerful board book with its little lifts to open flaps in the search of helping Tom and Bear find The Tickle Monster for my daughter who was about four years old at the time, if your looking for a fun book with plenty of laughter look no further. This author knows his audience, its a joy to read with its quirky rhymes my little girl loved taking part in searching for the hidden Tickle Monster definitely a joint effort which most little ones love.Your child may even recognise the illustrator Axel Scheffler from the award winning book The Gruffalo.Teach them young to love and be respectful of books, and remember accidents sometimes happen! more than happy to recommend this superb book!

It's ok not great....
Ordered this as my little one (18 month's) loves lift the flap books. She always enjoys lifting and finding during the story. Nice illustration, however not really impressed with the book overall not great 'story' seems odd and not enjoyable to read, and only one flap to lift per page. Other books we have had have 2 to 3 per page. Wouldn't buy the other books in the set. This book might be great for others, just not for us. Wish I had of ordered something different.
