A haunting and immersive tale that delves into the depths of human nature and the unthinkable.
The story follows protagonist Holly Gibney as she uncovers a series of chilling mysterious disappearances that threaten to unravel her sanity.King's mastery of the horror genre is on full display in "Holly." From the very first page, he draws readers into a world filled with dread and unease, where nothing is as it seems. The atmosphere is palpable, with every shadow and whisper contributing to the sense of impending doom.At the heart of the novel is Holly herself, a complex and compelling character who struggles with her own demons as she confronts the darkness lurking in town. King's portrayal of Holly is both empathetic and chilling, making her journey all the more riveting. What sets "Holly" apart is its exploration of themes such as grief, trauma, and the power of belief. Through Holly's eyes, King examines the human psyche and the lengths to which people will go to confront their fears. In typical King fashion, the plot is full of twists and turns that will keep readers guessing until the very end. With its richly drawn characters and spine-tingling suspense, "Holly" is a must-read for fans of horror and psychological thrillers alike. Stephen King once again proves why he is the master of the genre with this gripping and unforgettable novel.

Holly is a heroine of our times!
Compulsive as it’s eponymous heroine, this ( hopefully not final) escapade develops the cryptic sleuth and delivers a satisfying denouement. Still a victim/product of her past Holly uses her core reserves to expose a very human horror. I, for one, sincerely await her next challenge

King provides great social content and storylines that really get into your head
It is always nice to see a new release from Stephen King and you never really know what you are going to get but you know it will be a good read.I don't think everyone will enjoy this book. I did. The reason I say this is that the story takes place during Covid and is linked to social distancing and mask use throughout. I feel that Mt King is a great people watcher and he picks up lots of things to use in his book simply by watching people. He can put social events and feelings into his writing without it feeling wrong. Whatever you believe, it is fiction so go with the flow.I am not sure if the author is a smoker, or ex-smoker, but throughout the book, he kept making me want to have a cigarette, and I packed in years ago. It is just the way he writes, he gets into your head and your thought processes. The gist of the story has been used before by other authors, but he gives the character voices that come alive and as usual his writing style is spot on. Well worth a read

It's Stephen King!
It does what it says on the tin. King is the Master Storyteller. Hooked from start to finish. A little more "out there" but delivered excellently as per usual.

A good read if a little too simple
An enjoyable read for the most part but very simple and predictable. Too much fluff and characters are too ‘nice’. Probably wouldn’t read another one.

Moving and well written
Great Story. Stephen was obviously influenced by Covid and the times and included them in this book (much like the facts in 11/22/63). Story flows well, easy to read, interesting characters and definitely LOVE Holly. It's great that he went into her character and she's more amazing than I thought.Started this in the morning of the 5th, 2 days later and I'm almost finished. Totally worth the price!

Once more a superb Stephen King novel
Holly, who also appeared in some of the earlier Kind novels, has to deal with extremely evil people here. An excellent horror story, King at his best!

I highly recommend it
•Multiple Disappearances•Gruesome Truth•Compelling and Twisted Thriller•Investigation•Terrifying endingThe book is compelling and twisted. It is a real page turner and it keeps on the edge of the seat.Holly Gibney is such an intriguing character. The author has created such a powerful backstories of each character. Holly’s character has been encapsulated while solving the case of a missing person. The suspense stayed till the end and the ending shook me. The truth is indeed gruesome. There is a reference of pandemic. The author has very well described the pain of a mother. And the description of serial killers was terrifying. As Holly piece together all the information, they lead her to the missing person and then the intricate mysteries also engulfs her. She certainly did a great job. But I am sure if you will read the book, you will not expect that ending. The author has given great insight of psychotic serial killer’s brain. The ending is jaw dropping. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for eerie thriller with suspense and mystery.

A worthy successor to the trilogy!
The Bill Hodges trilogy is too far into my reading history to remember exactly who Holly Gibney was and what she did there. Fortunately, you can read Stephen King's Holly perfectly without that background knowledge.Holly Gibney, together with her partner Pete Huntley, runs the private detective agency Finders Keepers (also the title of the second book in the aforementioned trilogy). Pete, however, is out of action; he was struck by Covid. So Holly faces a new case alone: Penny Dahl reports the disappearance of her daughter. Her bicycle was found with a note saying she had had enough of everything. But Penny doesn't trust it.So King brings us an "ordinary" detective story; nothing supernatural, no monsters, except those of the human species. It is not a whodunit, because after the first chapters with Holly we return in time and read the story of a victim from the perspective of the perpetrators.Yep, we're dealing with a duo of serial killers, we know who they are from the start, so the tension building is how we see Holly getting closer and closer to them, how she puts the pieces of the puzzle together, and slowly discovers the truth. In addition to tension, there is certainly also humor in the story. After all, Holly can also count on the help of Jerome and Barbara Robinson, who also appeared in the trilogy. These two young people create a great dynamic, and the fact that they are also involved in writing themselves also makes it interesting; King often introduces characters who also write themselves, and who of course immediately turn out to be successful...What is intriguing to discover as you read is how the various side characters respond to Covid. This is the first book I read where the story takes place during the pandemic. King also makes frequent use of this. There are "good" and "bad" characters in this book, sympathetic and unsympathetic, and this is once again noticeable because of their position on vaccinations and the use of face masks.Although Holly is a pure thriller, I did find it enjoyable to read, unlike Billy Summers. The story remained compelling from start to finish, even without typical King elements. In my opinion, a worthy successor to the trilogy!
